Looking for opinion on M&B Marine. Located in Essex. I talked to Mike yesterday and he seemed genuinely top notch.
My last mechanic stiffed me this year, scheduled winterize 10/01. Then nothing, weeks of emails, call, texts, nothing, had to do myself on thanksgiving morn so block didn’t crack. Dont give me lip about doing myself, i am 68 and can well afford someone else to do and climbing in a bilge at 37 degrees on thanksgiving morning is not on my bucket list.
Looking for reviews on M&B marine. They seem reputable.

Not sure about M&B what have you considered "Edwards" over that area? I had them do work for me in the past and they got things done in a timely manner. Just another option for you to consider.

No lip, just a suggestion:
You did it, under some pressure, at 37 degrees because the mechanic let you down. Get used to it. These guys all have more work than they can deal with.

If you had scheduled to do it yourself, you would have been ahead, time wise and had peace-of-mind, as well. As you know, winterizing is easy and quick, when you are set up for it. It's not about "affording" the work but in having the assurance of the work being done and the satisfaction of knowing that it's done well. It's like gardening: I can well afford a gardener but I enjoy doing some of it myself.

Or, you can leave the tech a bottle of his favorite whiskey with the boat, letting him know that you really appreciate him prioritizing your job. He'll remember you in a good way for next time.

I have used this mechanic multiple times and previous winterizing. Scheduled in August for a 10/01 winterize.
I certainly think he had enough notice to plan regardless of his work load.
Turns the day after I posted he came down and took care of it, kept apologizing for not getting back to me, so it all worked out.

Depending on who the tech is working (HVAC), (Tree surgeon), (Mechanics), I tip them with the appropriate amount of 9mm or quality liquor. I like to give something they will remember and cash is very forgettable.

After 45 years in the construction trades you are entirely right and a rare man, to do that. Oh, yeah - we do remember!

Ya, mine on blocks. One time I kept it in really late. Took a ride up to Skipjacks for lunch on the Sassafras. Blue sky, flat water, memorable afternoon trip.
Good for you.
