Has anyone here bought a new boat from MM before? What all do they include in the deal besides the pillows, life jackets, tp? Also where can I buy custom aftermarket add-ons. I would like to add some Carbonfiber to the dash and a polished SS anchor, etc.

I just purchased an 06 240 Sundeck from them Last October. I got about 30% off the MSRP price for the boat and trailer.

The MM here gives all new boats a standard package of stuff:
Life Jackets
Flares
Bumpers
Ropes
Anchor
Boat Hook
Throwable cushion

Everything you need to be compliant with coast guard regulations.

What I did to get a good price was buy an 06 at the end of 06 (there are still 06's available now) I put a down payment on it to hold it. Then at the boat show I had my dad and stepmom go up to a different sales person and get a price on the same exact boat which turned out to be $2000 less then my quote I then made the sales guy eat crow when I showed him the new quote and they had no option but to sell me the boat for the new price.

So basically what I'm saying is just when you think your getting a good deal get them to take some more off because they can.

There are other threads that talk about buying a new boat which I've not tried but have read it works and I will probably do the same next time.

Basically come up with a price you want to pay for the boat and then write a check for a down payment. Give both to the sales person and don't say a word. They have a hard time giving back money so he will have to go to the sales manager and make the deal work. From what I read here this works great as long as you offer them something resonable for the boat.

Which boat are you looking at?

I got my 270 Amberjack last year, and this is what I recall MM providing as "extras".

CG "kit":
PFDs (4, orange)
Hand-held flares (3)
Small air horn (compressed air)
Life ring (tossable)

Plastic Sea Ray / MM tumblers (2)
Sea Ray / MM beach towel
Sea Ray / MM t-shirt
Sea Ray / MM mesh bag
Large fenders (2)
Dock lines (4)
Misc maintenance products (engine oil, outdrive oil, etc.)

I think that's it. No pillows, tp. Ended up getting a nice set of Sunbrella pillows from Pottery Barn. The two-tone tan stripes match the cabin fabric nicely.

I bought mine at a boat show, and they also give you a gift card to use at their parts department. Gift card value varies according to boat price, but look for $50-250. Maybe even higher for the larger yachts.

Bought a 200 sport in 05 from a boat show and the threw in a complete water sports package. Knee board, wake board, tube, ropes, vest and all the cleaning supplies I needed.

What a dealer offeres you depends upon how bad they want to sell a boat. The supply of boats and the demand for particular models varies widely from one location to another, so I doubt there is a "standard package" unless 2 of you are discussing the same store.

My view on the throw-in's is that everything is negotiable until you are told no. Prioritize your wants and be sure you get the important stuff early in the deal........when you get to the "no", it usually means they are done on the whole deal.

Very interesting how what you get with the boat is different.

Oh yea and I did get a gift certificate to the store but I felt that came from the Sales man and probably came out of his comission.

I've found their store prices cheaper then WestMarine too.

PERKS

Okay, Thanks. I got all of the same stuff with my 07, 340 also. I also $140302.00 off msrp.

I negotiated a full tank of gas, the weaver davits removed from my old boat and installed on my new boat, 4 full size fenders, dock lines, and CG kit. They also picked up my old boat from the Everett Marina (about 30 miles from where they asked it be delivered).

As has been previously mentioned, everything is negotiable.

Oh, right. I also got a full tank of gas and delivery to my local boat ramp on the N shore of Long Island 9about 40 mintues form the dealer).

I negotiated about $33,000 off the MSRP (~34%).

MarineMax in GA always give you a full tank of fuel whatever the size, plus all the other CG items. Come on down!
