I recently removed and had the cast iron portion of the rizers cleaned. All mating surfases were flat and pit free, and the reat was pit free. I have put it all back together and it all works. I bought an heat gun and the temputature on the cast iron 6" rizer it is 60F on the rubber hose port it is 160F and on the starboard it is 190F both warm sposts are a foot or so down the hoses and on the top, the bottom of the hoses are 80F. At the elbow both are 90F at the top, The water at the discharge point to ocean is 80 F. Does any one know what the temperatures should be. I do not have a sag in the hoses as they leave the cast iron rizers. All hoses were solid when I took it all apart.

Is this a MerCruiser engine?

My first thought while reading this is that it could be either the wrong gasket is installed, Or the gasket is installed the wrong way.

If this is a mercruiser engine could post your engine serial number and the part number of the mercruiser riser gaskets that you installed???

If you post the numbers then I should be able to look up the gaskets to make sure you bought the right ones, They have a few different styles of gaskets now.

Did you do a new thermostat kit? If so what temp was it?

Is this fresh water cooled or a closed cooling system (antifreeze)?
