Major Seller's Remorse!

UPDATE
Sea Trial was last Thursday and Surveys were set for the 6 th of May. Buyers seemed impressed with the performance and were excited to move forward. Last night our salesman called and announced that the buyers backed out with some babble about not liking the numbers on the smart craft in terms of load at WOT. My wife hit the roof with glee! long and short, even though we received a better back up offer the boat is off the market. We decided we are crazy to sell a 400 hr 2006 boat in near Bristol condition and trade it for a 2003 or 2001 boat with a laundry list of condition issues just to have a bigger master stateroom. We will wait until the perfect boat drops in our lap. Every boat we ever purchased came available within 50 miles of us and we enjoyed each and every one of them.
Carpe Diem every one!

You can tell us the truth...we're all friends here...which sensor or plug did you wiggle loose? ha :):)

Sounds like it wasn't meant to be all around...

I did actually have a fopah on the sea trial, I changed out the 2 1/2 inch water intake hoses the day before the sea trial and some how missed turning on the seacock for the port engine. As we were just about to push up the power to WOT I was bragging about how the engine temps never went north of 175 and were always with in 5 degrees of each other. Just then I noticed the port engine blowing past 175 and when she hit 185 I pulled the throttles to idle and excused myself to the engine room. I opened the seacock and by the time I returned to the bridge the temps were even at 175. We resumed and ran for another 45 mins at various power settings with no issues. Dodged a bullet there! Oh well... I believe in Karma. Incidentally the name of the big boat that we visited which inspired this whole episode is an 87 Tollycraft 65 named KARMA!

Grr...Boat isn’t in the water yet. Used it all 5 weekends for overnights that I owned it last year. Now we are considering a job change will both move our location and affordability for the first 12 months. I grew up on boats and don’t want to miss the opportunity to share it with my wife and daughter that haven’t had the opportunities I grew up with. With any luck we take the job, make some major life adjustments for the first year, and then get back on the water in a year round boating environment. For now I seem to be one of few at the marina still enjoying my boat on stands. How lucky are we that we can gripe about having to part with such an awesome life experience.

I've been guilty of being lured by a new shiny object once in a while. I was gung ho on upgrading to a 48 a few years ago and when the right one came about a few miles from me I was thrilled. But when I reached the point of having to sign the check I came to my senses and realized that my boat was really perfect for what we do. After that experience I've completely settled down and stopped looking for the next upgrade..............for now.

Having just gone through working with a buyer for several months and having them back out at the last second for reasons unknown, that sucks for the seller.

Until I sign a contract and give someone a deposit check I'm under no obligation to a seller to buy and feel zero remorse for my decision. Any savvy seller would know and expect that.

I actually feel bad for my salesman. We bought the 44 thru him in 2015 and have established somewhat of a relationship. He is young and ambitious and actually was top salesman for his brokerage last year. We reached out to him for help us fulfill a mission and then we changed course. He's a big boy and understands that these things happen and he will be fine but this is how he makes his living but only if he completes a transaction. Ill slip him a little something-something for his efforts and I know when he comes across the right boat for us he will call and we will make the move then. Until the we are going to really appreciate the blessing our 44 is to us and continue to keep her in tip top shape.
Enjoy the Boating 2019 everyone!

Everything happens for a reason! Enjoy your boat.

Perhaps that's the difference A contract was signed and a deposit given. I was fully aware the seller could back out.

It's just frustrating because we had things lined up for a few months while the buyer arranged their travel schedule for the sea trial. According to the broker during the sea trial the buyers were talking about how excited they were to have their grand kids on the boat and had already arranged for boat transportation. The surveyor reportedly gave the boat high marks. Next day the deal was off for reasons only the buyer understands.
