With 32 years doing electrical maintenance at a power plant over the years I have become a little OCD. when it comes to things electrical. Now when it comes to a lot of things the old rule if it aint broke then don't fix it.Now my old rule is if you haven't checked it out then you can't trust it.So with that said I figured I would do some recon on the main electrical panel and I was surprised how many loose connections their were. The main shore power feed was loose enough to harden the insulation heat on the wire and required it to be trimmed back and a new connector installed. One less thing to worry about.

I think its fair to say that water and electricity don't play well together... same for vibration and age. Over the years I've replaced 90% of the breakers (AC & DC), suffered enumerable loose connections, a failed ground fault interrupter (hidden in the head closet). Now I try to do preventive inspections whenever I'm below or in an access that hasn't been opened in a while. Seems to be a never ending battle is these old boats!! A little bit of worry is a good thing!
