magnesium pencil anodes for diesel 3116

I can machine them with flood cooling, so I'm not too concerned with excess heat buildup. There's really not much to do anyway - like Frank said, they just need to be sized and threaded at one end as long as the stock is the right diameter to begin with. The chips and shavings I keep for "play time" in the back yard.....

Ok I have contacted the company and here are the part numbers we need for the 3116 cat. You can find the specifics on the website chart.

A6L2283 = unc of 5/16 -18 , you will need 3 per engine. This is pencil anode only, cost $3 each.
If you want the complete anode the part number is C6L2283 with a stainless NPT 1/4 plug.

AE-1E = unc of 3/8-16, you will need 2 per engine. This is pencil anode only , cost $3.05 each.
Complete anode with stainless NPT 3/8 plug is CE-1E .

What at do you guys think about the stainless plug instead of the brass ?

Andy - the 3126 takes 11 zincs (we have seawater cooled Aftercoolers):

Zincs ALuminum (from the Performance Metals chart)
3 E-0A AE-0A
2 E-1E AE-1E
6 E-0CZ AE-0 (closest one, but it is 1 3/4' long vice 1 1/2' required)

Boatzincs.com has magnesium zincs, I'll call them Friday and see what they have in those sizes.

Did you call Performance Metals at 610.369.3060 for your answers?

Yes , I spoke to them and they told me to order A6L2283 to get the 5/16-18 thread. I have the 3116 so I don't need as many as you. Not sure what thread you need to screw into the plug, yours might be different.

i think the A6L2283 is also the one I Need for my Westerbeke 8.0 BTD. Not sure how many it takes .

It looks like they are using the same part numbers as Boatzincs is using but they have added a "A" at the beginning of the part number.

Andy,

Will Performance Metals let you order from them or do you have to go through one of their dealers?

I think you can order direct from them. When you call their number use ext. 226 and ask for Rae. She can place a order for you I think. I am getting my order together tonight and will place it tomorrow .

Andy,

Just spoke to Rae at Performance Metals today. Just what you said - very helpful.

For my 3216's, I needed (times 2 engines):
3 AE-0A's
2 AE-1E's
6 AE-0C's (This is the 6L3104 fro my aftercooler and exhaust elbow - they are just starting to make this P/N)
1 AE-0 (Westerbeke HE)

Aluminum for F/W

The price each was within $.25 of $3.00 for each - very reasonable...They will sell/ship direct.

Yep I have ordered mine too. She said they don't stock the pencil anodes and make them to order. Takes about a week. They will probably make yours and mine at he same time.

Hey fellas - I have 3126. If I have the 3126 TA would it be stamped right on the engine serial plate? Anyone know if my anodes would be the same as a3126TA?

Much appreciated.

Sounds like I should reach out to them and get a set or two going! I am in fresh water 50 weeks out of the year...

Yours would be the same as mine. See my comments to Ken above...
