We have been going to Lumberjack days in Stillwater, MN the last several years. Live music on the riverfront Friday and Saturday night followed by fireworks on Sunday night. A few years ago, I heard they had water taxi service into town, does anyone know if that is still available? Does anyone know if the fireworks show is as good as the July 4th show?

There is no water taxi and I do not recall there ever being one. The City of Stillwater is very strict about not letting boats come to shore. We use our dinghy to go to shore and every year we have hard time finding a spot to pull in and park.

The fireworks are on again this year (Sunday Night) and IMO they are better than the 4th. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the fireworks do to the dry conditions we have, they've done that in the past.

We plan on spending a couple of nights up there this year . . . hopefully better weather than last year when we experienced quite a nasty little squall on Friday. The drought we're in is pretty bad, no surprise if they cancel the fireworks.

Where do you park your dinghy if they're not allowing boats to shore?

We don't really go to shore anymore since the city cut off the shore parking.

We only go to shore to pick people up.

Kind of a bummer, we liked being able to go into town. Stillwater is generally not very
Boater friendly

Yea, I know what you mean. Totally agree on Stillwater and their lack of fondness for boaters. Too bad as Hudson, Prescott and Hastings seem to welcome us with open arms.

Anyway we're thinking about a transient slip at Wolf Marine for 2 nights so friends and family can join us by car. That also will allow us to go into town should we choose to do so.

Yeah, that'll work good, Wolf should have a slip available for the weekend.

The weather forecast doesn't look too great, we'll be coming up and maybe heading back to the marina a couple of the nights, we'll see. We dock in Bayport, where do you dock at?

Captains Bay Marina down in Hastings. It's small (14 slips) all covered. Really nice place with a great owner. Have you heard of it?
