The wife and I are trailering the boat to Ludington on the 18th and then leaving the 19th for Grand Haven. I talked to the city marina and they mentioned offsite trailer parking and then I could leave the truck in their parking lot for the week. Has anyone done this before? Is there a better alternative? I am not familiar with Ludington so any help would be appreciated.

Also, any suggestions on what to see in Grand Haven while we are there?

Thanks Scott. I have heard about the fountain and look forward to seeing it. The river looks like a great place to take daily trips in the boat and after looking at the charts I see what you mean about the skinny water.

From what I understand there is a city-owned lot about a mile from the launch where you can park your trailer, but "at your own risk".

I hope this is a better trip than two weeks ago up on Mackinac Island where it was windy and cold.

There's a Lot right Next to Harbor View Marina, it's watched closely by Marina patrons, I've parked our trailer there for years and never a minute of problems.. Just watch your axles as you come off the grass, I had one Flip the shakles and blew a Bearing...

I saw that one. Is it owned by Harbor View? If not, who should I contact about it or do I even need to. We thought about staying at Harbor View the night of the 18th. Thanks.

Hi John,

We slip in Grand Haven and spent last weekend in Ludington. We stayed at Harbor View in Ludington and it was very nice. Ludington was nice, we wished we would have brought the kids as the water front park was a beautiful place to run them. I did see the empty lot full of trailers so I wouldn't worry about leaving it. Grand Haven is like any port town, just busier. Nice waterfront layout with shops, restuarants, charter boats and splash pad. Further up the river is Spring Lake if you want to get away and anchor out for a while. It is a relatively large in-land lake that has nice "bayou's" for anchoring in. Enjoy your vacation....it is already mid August!

In Ludington, if you're staying at Harborview, the empty lot south of the marina gets used by the short term trailer boaters not sure about your particular plan. The municipal patrons must put their trailers over at a lot on 1st street. I've never heard of a problem with vandalism over there, but times seem to be changing around the town and it is totally unsecured. An option is Gold Coast Storage on the corner of Pere Marquette Hwy and 1st street. They have a fenced lot for storage that is somewhat secure (code access). Fees wouldn't be much for a week.

Thanks for the trailer and Grand Haven adivce. I am just hoping for a little better/warmer weather than two weeks ago up in Mackinaw.
