Today was not a good day for this truck driver - I-95N in NC

You wonder how stuff like this happens when so much effort is made to get the boat as low as possible...

Looks like someone didn't have good measurements.

Ouch!!!

When we shipped our boat from Lake St. Clair to Portland, OR I had nightmares about something like that happening.

Did it actually hit or did they stop before it touched. Looks very close but not really seeing damage. Not sure what those pieces are laying out on the bow?

Looks like a steering wheel sticking out of one of them so I’m gonna guess the bridge hit the bridge.

I don't see a steering wheel but just read the article and can only 'assume' if a bridge inspector was called then it probably did make contact...lol. That sucks

I think they took it apart to transfer and minimize height requirements. Oops, somebody failed at tape measure school.

The helm looks scrapped down to the bow, and what I can guess is the arch is the cockpit.

The trailer is nearly on the ground, and I suspect as an attempt to lower and back out. Probrably a new purchase, and not a happy day for anybody.......

A little schmutz and it’ll be fine.

When we had ours hauled, my wife wanted to know if the hauler had ever had something like this happen....

After loading and tying down, final measurements were taken and the lead car had an electronic whip on the front bumper that was set a foot taller. If it hit, the procession stopped and the lead car driver would ride on the boat under the bridge.

Well, the trucking company will have to pay for that one. Back in the 80's a trucker hauling some boats for the Coast Guard dropped one as they were going down the highway. The trucking company didn't make a profit that year.

We used to move large oilfield items. The bridge height can be wrong and it can be for one lane only. Power lines were our main problem as non are posted. On I 5 in Washington a few years ago a load hit a span and it seems the posted height was less than actual for the lane used. A section of the bridge fell. I like the idea of a wip on the lead car. Never seen that but excellent idea.
