Ironic.... In Sept. 2014 in post #7 I responded to this thread while living in California. Now here I am living in Covington, LA boating out of Madisonville. Since I am still putting the Cobalt back together I have not had it in the water but once for some testing but I have been out on my brother-in-law's boat. There is a new dockside restaurant in Slidell called The Blind Tiger that I am hoping to cruise to as soon as possible. Below is a pic of my new cruising area. This was taken from Friends Restaurant (now closed) looking south down the Tchefuncta River towards Lake Pontchatrain.
Prairieville, I havent been on the site in a few years, just bought a 1991 350 sundancer that is currently in Ms. I think we will leave her there and move to Orange Beach area in the spring.
First post boys! I’m in the Hammond area and both of my boats are trailered and stay at my house. Mostly to the Tickfaw River. We like to take lunch runs to area restaurants and to hang out on the maurepas sandbar.
Welcome....I just finished my boat today and it is going in the water tomorrow (Madisonville). I;m looking forward to getting up the Tickfaw. I hear the Prop Stop is interesting. Maybe see you out there sometime. Shawn
Shawn.....I grew up water skiing on the Tickfaw back in the 70's. The Prop Stop was "new" back then. I swear it was just an expanded duck blind with a dock out front! I haven't been there in literally decades, but I would bet my last dollar that they still serve a drink called A Worm Bucket. A fantastic place to stop on the River! Jaybeaux
Yes guys the Prop Stop is quite the show. If y’all have not been in years it is definitely different. They expanded the dock to be at least 200 yards long and have built a huge open air bar out front of the original building. The shenanigans still happen out on the back dock because you have to be 21 to get back there. I actually rarely go there unless I have a guest with us on the boat and wants to go.
Been on this forum for years but never posted in this thread, lol. I'm in Baton Rouge and trailer the boat. We do a lot of overnights in Madisonville, eat at Morton's, plug in to run the AC overnight, then get up and go to Abita Roasting for breakfast. My wife loves it. We also make day trips to Tickfaw and Diversion and visit all the water bars/restaurants. Once it's summer and you HAVE to run the AC to sleep on the boat we almost always go to Madisonville because being able to plug into shore power is so much nicer than having to anchor and run the genset all night.
After some more work on the Cobalt I will be putting her in on Tuesday, the 28th. Going to launch in Madisonville and then cruise around and get some hours on the rebuilt motor. Here is last fall a T Rivers....
