All my ebay stuff came in friday. Got the lower unit torn down, new baffels, gimble bearing, water pump, steering cable and prop installed. Not has hard a job as I expected. My gimble bearing puller cost me $8.00 at lowes. I used a 5/8"x2' all-thread put it through the bearing put a couple flat washer in the inside and a nut. I then took two 2x4's 16" long and drilled a 3/4 in whole through the center and put them on the outside against the gimble housing. I then ran a flat washer and nut down to the 2x4's and then two nuts at the end tightend together. One wrench to hold the nut on the end and one to turn the nut by the 2x4's. Presto. I then modified it a little to seat the new bearing in place. I do have to stay the mercruiser manual I got is almost worthless. I found much better info online with a little time then what was in the book. One note though not all trim indicator wires are brown/white. Mine are factory purple/white at the gauge but change to brown/white after the harnes at the motor. and yes the trim switch is also purple/white but a different wire bundle. Found this out trying to get my gauge to work. turns out the gauge was bad. only bug now is a over heating issue. New pump is getting water to the motor. I'm gonna guess it's the thermostat.
