Lost Anchor

I've never considered the swivel being the weak link, but I'm going to learn this lesson from Bennett.

I have a Progress 1 with G40 5/16". Mantus website show I only require the S1 model? Is this correct?

I'm using the S1 with 5/16 HT chain, and the 35lb Mantus, even their S1, their "smallest" option is pretty hefty.

same here....the Mantus anchor and swivel work great!

Cliff, I was so psyched that the larger anchor still fit nicely on the existing roller for our 340DA without needing any extensions or modification. I definitely feel more secure when we're anchored with the 35lb Mantus than I did with the stock 25lb Kodiac. Time will tell, but when she reset herself nicely in the first two major wind shifts we experienced after installing it, I felt good.

You want to use the size and type chain that the windless’ chain wheel is made for. Lofrans progress 1 wheels are stamped with the size and type. (Assuming that you have that windlass)
The picture below shows how my chain wheel is stamped.
5/16 on the left and HT on the right. High tensile is the same as G4 or G43

Re-reading this thread has me thinking about a Mantus S1.
Just saw on their website that they have a 10% discount and free shipping in the US from now through July 4th with coupon code JulySaleMM19.
Hope someone can use it.
I currently have a double shackle swivel. Still trying to decide Mantus swivel or no Mantus swivel myself.

Holy Cow! I ordered an S2 for my 58's chain and I swear it's too big!

You may remember last summer I lost my 66 lb SS anchor due to a broken swivel. Here's my dock mate's 58's swivel Sunday - lucky !!

He discovered this AFTER he brought up his SS anchor from our weekend raft up. Needless to say, we both ordered Mantus Swivels on the spot!

Interesting where it broke as typically the swivel bolt breaks on that type of swivel. Perhaps side loads caused it which the Mantus swivel will overcome with its bow shackle.

The bolt broke on mine as you stated. His anchor came into the rollers upside down and it may very well have been side loads as he flipped it.
