SO here's my situation...As some of you know, I was selling a JL JX250/1 Sub amp. I had it listed in the for sale ad's and I also listed it on Ebay. I sold it on Ebay. Well I got an email yesterday saying he wants his money back because I sent him something that wasn't the same as the picture. OKAY.. Now..When I listed the auction I took a generic picture off Crutchfields website because the amp was still in my boat. The picture was right off the description of the amp. (link on bottom with pictures I sent him.)I also attached Crutchfields link of the amp to the auction and gave I also gave a description of the amp. On Jan 5th he asked for actual pictures. So I took the amp out and sent him 3 picture sitting on top of the actual box it came in. He bought the amp on Jan 9th. He got the amp on Jan 15th and on Jan 26th he wants his money back saying I was false advertising the item. I used pictures from someone elses amp. Now I only charged him $70 for the amp and $10 for shipping. The Actual shipping cost me freakin $35. Because he wants a refund Ebay says I have to pay for shipping..WTF..At first I said just send it to me and I will refund the $70 and not paying shipping after I test it, But now hes calling me a liar and it's pissing me off! I have all the emails I sent him and think I'm going to call Ebay tomorrow. People like this are just the low life's of the world. What would you do?

eBay is better than Craig’s list by far. I stopped using Craig’s list all together. Don’t know this guys story but if you sell stuff on eBsy you don’t want the negative publicity. Send the jerk the UPS shipping label and move on...

I was going to do that, but the fact that I paid over $34 the fist time and now I have to pay again for someone that calls me a liar just ticks me off. I'll call Ebay tomorrow and see what they say about the situation I guess.

I bought a $250 Hunter ceiling fan on ebay ...the description was right but the picture was of another fan. I bought it based on the pic... so I felt it was my mistake for not being more thorough. At the end he said keep the fan and refunded my money because he didn't have the fan in the pic.
I would pay for shipping and refund his money and chalk it up to a learning experience

The guy is definitely being a jerk. If you supplied pics and specs he should be satisfied with that unless he is blind. Hope the amp still works.

Always use pictures of the original item, showing any nicks, scratches, etc. Now $35 to ship and $35 to return for a $70 item -- you might be better to let him keep it.

Some people in this world are simply not logical, let alone stable...

That said, I have no idea who's right here.

If he believes you used false advertising, what is he specifically complaining about. Did he expect it in different condition? Different model?

Ebay has clear rules and T&C, he can file a claim and has to present his case for dispute resolution. Many sellers wont risk the negative feedback, but that's up to you... I would go through the dispute process and see what Ebay determines.

Do you feel he has any basis for his position?

Better make sure he didn’t replace his identical Amp with yours. Did you make a note of the serial number prior to shipping it.
Also when I sell on eBay especially electronics I check the no returns box to cover my butt

Sadly, EBAY is 100% pro buyer. Cut your losses or ebay will ding you as a bad seller. If they unwind the deal, he should not be able to leave neg feedback.

Def pro buyer, and the "no return" does nothing in the event the item wasn't as described. doesn't work or buyer complains of a bait and switch.

The picture in the auction was the exact one I emailed him and described. I even attached a link the shows the exact amp with all specs and pictures. How can he contest that. I also emailed him 3 pictures sitting on top of the box that shows the model it was. Nothing I did was wrong. I gave him more then enough info. I feel he bought it and decided on something else or even he broke it and wants his money back. But to accuse me of lying pisses me off. I filed 2 complaints with ebay describing everything. I am also calling them tomorrow. I also noted NO RETURNS in the ad

I sold my SR 400EC on CL, then bought my SR 400 Sedan Bridge on CL. Both transactions went seamless and flawless.

I’ve bought other items on CL, and sold a few things. No complaints.

I've bought and sold a lot of stuff on ebay. In a situation like this, ebay will pickup the return shipping back to you and give the guy his money back.

If your ad said no returns, that should be the end of the story.....

    QSM11's,
If “no returns” doesn’t mean NO returns why is it an option?
I always take actual pics and he even stated that he too sent 3 actual pics. This buyer is a ...........

The reason Ebay is so successful selling unseen items to buyers is their "buy protection" guarantee. Add to that and you have Paypal protection to back that up. This prevents Joe scumbag trying to off his junk that don't work or isn't as he described it to be to internet buyers.

"No returns" from a sellers listing would probably mean new items accurately described. New or used, if the item isn't what it is suppose to be or work as it should, Ebay has your back.

i also think he had the exact same amp that went bad....he wants to get his money back and send his defective amp back to you hoping you want know the difference...that way he gets a free 'new' amp.....

Well, if there is a photo record of the amp's S/N, then if he tried to return his dead amp in the place of the one "not accurately described", then buyer would be committing fraud. Ebay would have to make right, then suspend buyer's account.
