Our water level is very low on Lake Wylie........as low as I have ever seen it over the last six years. Because of that, it is next to impossible for me to get out of our Marina anymore without dragging the outdrive several times. We went out today and it looks like that will be it for quite awhile unless lake levels come up or some dredging is done. I still have 3 feet under the hull in my slip but other boats are just about sitting on the bottom. A couple of the public ramps we checked out today looked like they would be a real challenge to use now. I expect many of them will be closed soon as well. Duke power, who controls our lake levels issued this message on their web site:
Due to persistent drought conditions, lake levels continue to decline. In an effort to conserve, Duke Energy has reduced its hydro generation and is limiting other water releases. Water conservation is always a good practice and a shared responsibility by everyone -- particularly during drought conditions. Without widespread, substantial rainfall in the near term, gradual decline of lake levels will continue.
Here's hoping it rains.
