I was going to research installing a 3000 watt inverter in my 420. I would use it for the refrigerator and freezer only when anchored. As you know the units do not like battery power, tried changing the power converter to a higher amp still doesn't cool for crap, works fine on 110 or when running along, @13.5v. My solution is to install an inverter and connect my Stern Thruster batteries along with 2 new ones(400 amp hrs). I want a transfer switch also. Does anyone have any experience or photos that may help.
Thanks

I do. Search for threads I've posted regarding inverters.
I'll tell you this, right off the bat - 400AH in batteries isn't going to give you much time running freezer and refrigerator.

I'm following this how to (http://helmhounds.com/aboard/invertercharger-install-ms2812/) on my 420DA. A friend has it in his boat and runs almost everything without issue. Battery bank is monitored and when they run low the genny automatically kicks on to recharge which isn't often as we raft together often. When shore power or genny is on the unit acts as a battery charger and automatically switches between functions.

We have ice maker, refrigerator with freezer and small 12/120 volt refrigerator from Walmart. In all we have 10 six volt golf cart batteries powering a 2,500 Watt inverter. We run them all on 120 volt. The batteries go down after 48 hours to the point shore power takes 6 to 8 hours to charge them up if we do not run the generator. If we run the generator 3 hours a day the batteries are OK.
