Hi,
I'm looking to buy a Sundancer 48 2007 or 2008.

I would like to know the major differences between the two years. I know that the 2008 model has different throttle controllers (only one pair vs the usual 2 pairs: throttle and transmission). Is it better? Any other differences between the 2007 and 2008?

Also, any idea of recent sold prices for the two?

Thanks,
Hugo

hello hugo
the shifter your talking about is DTS which is basically fly by wire no more cables I have DTS and I love it you can limit rpms around the dock also use single stick whole cruising computer syncs engines. Other differ few I can't help you with but I thought the 08 had Zeus.

Thank you for the clarification.

Any concern with the DTS system on long term reliability and maintenance versus the typical shifters?

The 2008 I'm looking at doesn't have the zeus..

Thanks,
Hugo

I would never go back to cables. We are looking at new boats and even the large outboards are fly by wire.

The 48DA with separate throttles and shifters will synch both engine's RPM, limit RPM around the dock, and use a single stick while cruising. They are buttery smooth. I was worried going from a DTS boat to cables, but there is no real down side. It is just different having two sets of controls. You rarely ever do more than idle while docking, so having the functions on separate sticks does not cause any disadvantage. As far as maintenance and reliability, which has been around longer and how many repair shops can fix DTS in a pinch? What's cheaper, cables or a DTS computer? It is not a reason to chose one year over another.

I do believe the 2008 went to shiny cabinetry where the 2007 and earlier were matte. The fridge in the 2008 is SS where the earlier ones were wood grain. The salon sofa went white in 2008, where the earlier ones were saddle. I think the 2008 went to twin Raymarine E120s vs the C120 and Sea Ray Navigator. That is pretty much it. The 2008 has a second grab bar on the hard top at the aft most end of the side deck.

Zeus and a new sunroof came out in 2010 with a name change to 50DA.

JV, thanks for all the info...suppose to see the 2008 after labor day week-end! The 2007 I saw last week wasn't clean enough...

Good luck and keep us posted!

You are welcome. I forgot to mention another very important difference. In my search, it was about $100,000.

Agree on cable v. DTS comments. My 2007 though, has shiny cabinetry, has stainless "look" finish on fridge, has light "off white" salon sofa, and has twin Raymarine E120's. Good luck on your search.

Those changes must have happened in the third year of production then, 2007. I was unsure of the year. Thanks for the clarity.
