After spending the last five days in the dark being affected by the PG&E power safety shut down, we are looking forward to a couple of days on the ball at Angle Island with a fellow Searayer. (is that a word?)
It just occurred to me though, the worst part of loosing power out on the ranch was managing multiple generators and hearing them drone on and on. Now to relax we are going to do two days listening to the genny! It may just inspire me to finally install a few more batteries and a decent inverter. We generally overnight at docks with power so its not been high on my do buy list. This is the prime weather window on the bay and the weather outlook looks great.
Carpe Diem everyone!

Sorry about your troubles out there... enjoy the weekend!

I catch myself complaining about a little inconvenience by having no power but then remember to realize hundreds of our California neighbors are loosing everything in the fires.
I feel quite blessed to have the troubles I have.
Carpe Diem

Prior to June 2016 I lived in California for over 30 years. Started in Sacramento (6 yrs), moved to Southern Cal (18 yrs), Fresno (2 yrs) and then back to Sacramento (10 yrs) finally retiring and moving to the New Orleans area.

There are parts of Cal I miss a lot....mostly the weather. The rest of it (politics, cost of living, etc.) not so much. But being where we are I invested in a whole house generator powered by natural gas. With our last name being Murphy we figured we made the area safe from power outages because we made the investment. Other than a couple of short outages less than 4 hours the genny only ran once a week for the automatically scheduled "exercise."

Early this past Saturday morning we had a strong wind event as a result of Tropical Storm Olga. It caught everyone off guard including the meteorologists. As a result we were without power for 38 hours. Thankfully we had the generator. I think if I were still living in Cal the whole house generator would be a must. I bought it hoping we would never need it but now so happy we have it.
