Can't believe the prices for new dock storage boxes $600 and up :smt009

Any used for sale??? need one about at least 5' foot wide by 17"x17"

E-bay has none

I know of one in Mystic CT that is that size or larger - the guy wanted $200 - Nice shape - really cheap - I can check to see if he still has it - he bought it a year or two ago and is now getting out of boating - I tried to convince a buddy of mine to buy it but it was too big for his taste - I don't know if you make it up this way to pick it up - otherwis probably not worth it - let me know

It's worse at my new marina where they only allow one brand of dock box made in Paris, Indiana that runs over $800 new. The same thing but their own brand is available from West Marine for about $200. When I mentioned to the marina owner I saw a WM box on the docks he said it wasn't approved. I am going to wait a couple of months to see if I really need one before spending that kind of money. You might want to consider doing the same if that used one doesn't work out for you.

I don't know what their hang up would be with the one from West Marine...I bought one from them 10 yrs ago, gelcoat still shines like new. Hell, I told my wife if I die, she can use it for my casket....she said now way, she wasn't going to be done boating!

Thanks Bob..

We kicked it around for a few months now whether we really needed one or not, we now decided to get one, but i'm refusing to spend $600 for a storage box, our marina does not care what kind we get as long as its not light enough to be blown into the water from what were told, our docking area has a parking, seating, picnic area, Bar BQ ...8' feet from our mooring spot. We have a lot of gear, beach chairs, beach stuff, umbrellas, cleaning stuff, etc
and we don't want to use our cars for storage nor do we want to load up the boat.with shore gear..
And since this place is in Conn, and about 130 miles away, we're not too thrilled, but if no other options come along then we'll consider the trip and bring it home with us....:smt001

Lowes. Garden section I think. The Admiral bought it for me/us for Christmas. 6' tall, lockable, adjustable shelves is the best part.

edit.......$100.

NICE......

I used the rubbermaid box ( until some one stole it ) It is light weight and does't keep all the water out and the lock lasp is a joke. JG.

I thought of that but id lock it with a chain and lock and cover it with a tarp when away from it......

I've posted this before but.....walk the docks and find someone that has a boat for sale, that also has a dock box. Call the number, and offer to buy the box. I have 2 6' boxes that I got this way.
