Before I call the mechanic out, I'm looking for some troubleshooting steps to try first. The last time it ran was a couple of months ago. At that time, it started right up, ran a few minutes, then died. Now nothing. The starter cranks strong. Just won't start.

What tips in order of difficulty do people have. I haven't checked it yet, but would probably go as far as removing the carb and putting in a cleaner bath...probably would not rebuild on my own. So if anyone has tips for removing the carb, that would be great also.

Searched YouTube...only found lots for sale...no videos on repair or troubleshooting.

Thanks, Mark

Mark, pull the fuel line and return line off the carb then spray the hell out of it with gumout. Run the generator and force it into higher idle so that all the carb jets get fuel moving through them. Shut genny down let her cool off and repeat. This worked for my 5e after having the same problem. The carb is real sensitive to gummed up fuel.

+1 to gerryb.

Also, while your fuel line is off, put a clear plastic tube over the end of the fuel line, run it into a container, and put 12V to the electric fuel pump just downstream of the inline filter and ensure it is pumping fuel - or - take the spark arrester off and spray a shot of starting fluid in the carb to see if she will start up for a couple of seconds. That will also tell you if it is fuel - and not ignition - related. Keep you blowers on while you have your fuel system opened up...
