I joined this forum hoping to locate some other owners of 355/360 AC Sea Rays built between 1983 and 1987.

My boat was built in October 1982 and was an early production model as there were some slight changes made to the deck mould shortly afterwards.

It does not have the optional hard top and radar arch but was supplied with Crusader CH350s (454s) which I have not found in most others of the same vintage.

She has always been on Lake Huron - St. Clair/Detroit Rivers.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Jeff

I own a 1987 Sea Ray 360 AC

Hi Jeff,

I own a 1987 SR 360 AC. I purchased it in Nov. 2003 with 1999 Mercury Horizons 8.0 370 HP motors with 100 hours on each. It had not been extensively used for five years and the genset did not work (it actually caught on fire when we tried to start it.)

We have spent the last 3 years improving mechnical, exterior flaws, and interior decor. We have succeeded in most of our efforts. New queen size fold out couch in the salon, replaced the tired tub chairs with wood and woven chairs, new headliner and valance, new custom curtains, new wood blinds, all new canvas and isenglass with camper style enclosure for the aft deck area (we have the optional hardtop over the aft deck). The genset was rebuild (took 3 years, and we put it in the boat ourselves, tough job), new sanitation system (I installed with the help of a sealand rep.s advice, not a job I would recommend), replaced the mirrors, minor repair on the air conditioners. Replaced the fresh water pump (which has subsequently broken again), Generally spent time cleaning and buffing everything.

Jobs left to do: replace the windlass which only supports rode, not chain (I have the new rode and chain, I am waiting for a wind fall to purchase the windlass), repair the fresh water pump, Calking, repair/replace windows.

The boat has been an excellent buy for our family of my wife, two boys (now 10 and 12) and myself. We spend every weekend (summer and winter - Florida of course) onboard. We own two other boats, a 21 foot HydroSports for near shore and offshore fishing and a 17 foot aluminum john boat for inshore (mainly in the mangroves) fishing from Ponce inlet to Misquito Lagoon.

If you have any questions please ask away.

Hello 2 Can and Captain Bismark,

I glad to have caught up to you both.

I will post some items shortly as it looks like we all have done significant upgrades to our boats. I hope to get back in a couple of days.

Regards,

Jeff

Capt. Bismark, Pictures of your restoratin would be fun to see. SBW

Pictures

We don't have any interior pictures. Our boat was used in a photo-shoot done for Captain Armstrongs book Getting Started In Powerboating. My hands were also pictured in the control part. We have subsequently changed the name (we did the shoot just weeks after purchasing the boat and it still had the previous owners name on it). The canvas is now white. We also replaced all the fiberglass components on the aft rail with Starboard nearly down to the deck and an inch from the rail. Bending the Starboard for the corners was a real knuckle buster. It is friday and we are headed to the boat this evening. Maybe i'll take some pictures to post. It is supposed to be 82 degrees and sunny this weekend.

be good,

Captain Bismark

Good day gentlemen; You found another 355T A/C owner. We have 2 in Louisville Ky. Both ran the river all the time. HOWEVER I will get more use out of mine this year as that I am one of the few that has original V6 chevy 165 HP. I still cruise at about 15 MPH and get better ahan 2 1/2 MPG with the gen runing. My theory is that if I am running fast enought to knock the liquor over in the liquor cabnet, I am going to fast. No one wanted this boat till I reproped it and the fuel went sky high. Now I get at least 1 person a month wanting to know when I will sell it to them.

Hello! I just became the proud owner of a 1987 Sea Ray 360AC. I am a total "newbie" at this and this is my first boat. I have dreamed of doing this for years and I have finally taken the plunge! Can anyone suggest good web sites, stores, etc. that might specialize in parts and accesories for this particular boat? Any advice/help that anyone can provide would be great. Thank you!

We just purchased a 355AC. We are currently going through the systems and learning the boat. We anticipate some repairs and plan on some cabin upgrades. Glad to fine a thread here with other owners of this model

Another 355 AC here. EZ-Go is an 83 model I have owned since 95. I have updated some of the mechanical systems and plan on doing alot to her when I return to the states. She is a great boat with alot of potential. We were sold on the aft cabin because our daughter was small when we found the boat and it gave her some privacy as well as a seperate bath. Most of our boating is to the islands in PC Beach, Fl. Spending time on the hook listening to the Onan run. she is very comfortable in sloppy weather. I need to plan carefully when foul weather is approaching though. With the little 165 Crusaders you aren't going to "run for it." I will be glad to answer any questions I can and I am sure somebody here can answer all of them.

Have a 360 (1982) bought in 2007,has new 350 Mercruser's with smartguages. We do a lot of anchoring out as we cruise a lot on the west coast Canada in Desolation Sound.Would like to add a larger swim grid, has anyone had any experience,in this area.Have also being trying to go the old Onen generator to work properly, although I think it is a lost cause, has anyone replaced there generator.

another new owner of a '83 355 ac. picked it up off of lake erie and shipped it down to pittsburgh pa where we use it on the monongahela river every weekend. fantastic ride, fantastic layout. the boat has sat out of use for the past few years subsequently making it affordable for me:smt038. i'm in the process of totally restoring the boat and i would love if someone could point me in the direction of where to buy oem parts (i.e. window track, weatherstripping, brightwork pieces) as sea ray no longer seems to support boats older than '88. any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, greetings from Ohio, We are a long time Sea Ray family, Good to know there is a forum for this often overlooked model. Great design, construction and value with old school Sea Ray quality.
Sadly hoping to find a new owner for ours,

Here is the cockpit version of the boat. They only made for 3 years i think. The PO did a lot of work on her before I came along... complete wiring,navigation,interior,engines,.. pretty much everything was restored or replaced. It runs very nicely at 18 knts @ 2800 rpm on the 454's. {4 blade props} Tops out at 32 knts on a light load and clean bottom. We put 117 hours on this year cruising PNW and Desolation sound. It has a custom 3 ft deep teak swimgrid on her that I store the dinghy flat using Hurley type davits {I made myself}... Grreat boat!

Hi, we just spent the last month reviewing and purchasing a nice 1983 355 aft cabin Sea Ray. The boat has been very well looked after and other than updating some interior pieces we look forward to a beautiful summer on the Northumberland Strait. I would love to hear from others who own this boat and gather any information, chat, stories. Cheers all.

I replaced my generator on my 360 with a new Northernlights 5kw. Simple swap out, wieghs less, and runs smoother.

FIRST POST!

Just bout an 84 36AC, mechanically great condition with 200 and 10 hours on the engines respectively. Looking to do interior upgrades and use this as the weekend getaway for the wife and I. We are on the Great Lakes and excited to get started. Any tips are appreciated.

First TIP! POST SOME PICTURES!!! Congratulations on your new boat. Take your time and look around. Gather any information you have on board regarding your systems. Anything you are missing you can probably find here. This board is a gold mine of information on boats and boating. You will find these boats have a lot of potential.
Welcome aboard.

:smt024 I'm learning, and killing my iPad battery! Where should I load up more photos, flikr account and link em?
