Looking at options to replace the refrigerator on my 30 foot sun dancer. Hoping to not spend an a ton, but want something a bit newer and fresher than the original one that's there.

What are the dimensions?

I'll measure it tomorrow. However from some online research, I'm going to guess its
29 .75 tall X 20.5 wide and about 20 deep.

If that's correct, check out the Dometic CRX-1110. Amazing technology!
However, the freezer is not removable like the smaller models.

For those like me who run the gennie always, I always recommend a 120VAC dorm fridge first. It's a $100 throwaway every few years.

After that, I prefer the 12VDC only as it runs from the charger when plugged into shore power. At least my Regal did. Then 12VDC/120VAC only because of price.

These guys have what appears to be a Dometic in different skin.

I found a mini fridge that's awesome at BJs. It was 100 bucks and looks just like a large frig only 3 cubic feet inside. Has a freezer on top..glass shelves and stainless look outside. Looks great. Runs on AC current only

2nd the "throw away" fridge. I bought one on Amazon. Free shipping. If it breaks in a couple years, I'll buy another. Why spend $1000+?

I never thought of getting one that runs on DC only. That's a good idea since I don't have a genny. If I go with DC only, I'm guessing it will kill the battery if I leave it on and the boat is not plugged in with the converter on?

...and thats why many buy a frig thats ac only. Not only is an ac frig 10% of the cost of an ac/dc frig, but unless your underway or at anchor for very long periods of time, the ac driven frig stays cold for hours without power. The dc powered frig will be a silent draw on your battery, and it all adds up when your not charging your batteries while the engine and genny are off.

Run the stereo, keep your radio on for emergency info, use the head or need water pressure for the sink or showers..keep your anchor or cockpit and cabin lights on ....and it all adds up.

For me, An ice cold beer is not a good trade for being stuck waiting hours for a seatow battery jump. My boat is meant for coastal cruising, not weeklong trips. Thats why I choose this option. Even though I Have a genny, It noisy, creates fumes and of course uses gas. All good reasons to make this choice. Different story if We are Talking about a yacht or trawler that accommodates longer trips.

I appreciate all the suggestions and feedback. Since the cost for an A/C fridge is so low, I think I'm gong to try and live with an A/C only fridge. Worst case scenario, is after spending $100 on an A/C fridge, I realize I need/ want the best of both words (A/C- D/C) and put the A/C fridge in my garage and then go buy an AC/DC fridge.

Just to make sure I understand correctly- If I get an A/C only fridge the idea would be to have it pluged into an outlet on the boat and use it only when on shore power. When I'm on shore power, the breaker for the outlet would be left in the "on" position so the fridge stays on and the converter can be left off so I dont have to worry about over working the converter and over charging the batteries. Naturally the the fridge would not be usable while not on shore power?

Check in the fridge compartment. There may be a dedicated outlet for the A/C side of the fridge in there already.

Thats right, you should have an outlet in your frig space and, even if thats removed, the wiring shuld still be there. That wiring would be directly connected to your ac shore power through a breaker, and unless its co-located with another sustem on a breaker that you dont want on..it should remain on when at the dock.

The frig will remain cold for hours then, when underway. We do the same thing with our ice maker when we are underway and shut the engine down. Its nice to have the option of using the genny if its needed, but its even nicer to keep it off and enjoy the quiet and clean air drifting or on a mooring.

I have a fridge and sent you private email...Greg
