Presently looking at a 1999 340, boat is in overall good condition. Needs a little TLC. Does not have a genset, although I thought maybe of purchasing a small portable genarator. The only thing is this boat has just over 900 hrs on 7.4L MPI's. Price is resonable and reflects hrs on boat. But this many hours keeps telling me to stay away. Any thoughts on this!!!! This is a two owner boat, with the first owner putting the majority of the hrs on.
Thoughts and comments much appricated.

Do not buy a portable generator...do a quick search on here and you will quickly find that a portable generator is not a good idea.

If you are worried about hours and a generator, it might be best to keep looking! There are plenty of boats out there!

Welcome to the forums! You will find a lot of great information here!

i agree with the portable gen response above.
i sent you a PM (private message) with some additional information.

A 340 DA needs to have a generator. I am against any portable generator on a boat. A 4.5 generator is what the boat needs. About $7,000.00 installed. The 900 hours is not too much if the engines have been cared for and can pass a good mechanical survey. New plugs, distributor rotor, water pumps and a tune-up should run about 1,400.00 per side including oil change in the transmissions. Contingency may be the exhaust manifolds and risers at about 1,500.00 per side.

Price needs to be very good. We love our 2001 340 DA.

Thanks for the input, please keep it coming. This is a freshwater boat so would there be much issue with the risers and exhaust manifolds as opposed to saltwater with those kind of hrs on it?
