CAT 3116s
Hey guys,

I've been on the site a few hours and I've searched "400 sundancer" and read all the threads.

I'm looking at one of these and, of course, will have a marine and engine survey done. But, does anyone have any additional advice? Maybe even specific to this boat / engine? Things to look for?

This will be my first - so I'm kind of going in blind.

Thanks & nice to be here.....

If you do a search you will find tons of info on this boat and motor. I like the model and looked at several in the past. The cat 3116 is a great engine and will be economical to run as well. There were some problems/issues this engine had, but it's been a long time and most of them that were going to fail have already done so. Having said that, you will want to do due diligence to make sure the engines in a particular boat are ok. Contacting Cat with the seriel numbers, and or on this site with someone who has all the knowledge. Join and do research here or on boatdiesel.com would be my advise. good luck and don't rush.

Thanks for replying. I did think that I was asking a question that has been asked before. But, when I searched, I didn't find a thread. I'll continue to search... I did read that the 3116 had some growing pains but it has been well sorted. Contacting Cat with the SNs is great advice...

Appreciate it.

Good luck and welcome to CSR!
