I am looking at maybe getting a 1997 or around that age Sundancer. I have seen 240 and 250 around $8,000-$15,000. My first question is what's the difference in a 240 vs 250?

Second question is, is $8,000-$10,000 for a 1997 in Dec/Jan a good deal or is that a possible one that needs a lot of work? Trying to get a gauge so I know what a good one should go for vs one with a lot of issue.

I've always found it best to look at comparable listings on boattrader.com and yachtworld. Maybe even FB marketplace these days. See what the highs, lows and average boats are listed for and what options they have.

NADA guides can also be semi useful though I don't think they kept up with what was happening during/after covid. They seem a bit low these days...

I recommend spending more money on a boat that’s in perfect condition rather than buying a boat that needs work. Once you start putting time and money into a boat that needs work it’s going to quickly eat up any money you thought you were saving.
