Hi all, as the subject indicates I'm looking at a 89' 230 Weekender. I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow and I was hoping to get some input as to what I should look for in the way of problems. I'm look to get it for my wife and our 75 lb Lap. Any input would be appreciated. Oh and this would be my first boat since I sold my 77' 15' Silverline with a 60hp outboard so any insite on general maneuvering would be great.

Thanks

Ok I read on here somewhere that if you don't post with a picture it didn't happen, so here it is.

Sorry, Im in here for similar reasons, but was very curious to see how you get on. I'ev just registered to find out info on the same boat and see how other people are using them successfully. Good luck, post back if you made a purchase!

Try posting this question in the Classic section. There are some truly great people who know these boats inside and out. Good luck, JC

Long overdue update. The deal fell through. Had an survey done and the engine was bad. Inner 2 cylinders had very low compression, 85-95 lbs outer 130-145. Good news is that we picked up a 98' 250 Sundancer that I'm currently getting ready for next season.

Bought my 1988 230 We. from original owner 4 years ago. There is nothing that stands out to look for on this model that is different then any other model of this age.My wife and I do weekends on lake Erie all the time.I have made a few changes to the boat but overall I'm happy with it.The 260 Hp. does a good job and is good on gas.Because it is on the heavy side for its size it handles rougher water a little better then newer lighter boats of the same size .
