First, I did a seach for said topic and really did not see what I was looking for. Most post are bringing back shine. I am looking for the longest lasting wax once you have that great shine that you are looking for.

I am looking for waxes for boats that are on the water moored, not the wax that makes a garage boat great, sometimes they are not the same wax.

Thanks for the opinions, I am sure I'll find a few ;)

Your gonna get lots of opinions on this. I use Yacht Brite's Pro Polish. It is not a wax. Lasts longer than wax without a doubt.

Keep in mind my view is from Fresh water. The best lasting we have seen was Colintes Fleetwax. We have not has the same result from any other product.

I should have posted that I am in Fresh water 99% of the time. Opinions is what I am looking for, these are great so far, it appears that the non waxes are lasting longer.

Ditto.

As far as "regular" wax goes, I don't think there's another product that lasts as long. For the best results, use the #885 (paste wax). More elbow grease, but better results.

There's nothing wrong with Meguiar's and 3M and the others, but Collonite is the only wax that people call us for and say "I've been searching for this stuff, do you have it?"

From personal use, I can back-up what the company is saying.

However, I must also say that I no longer use it. One of the other guys at the store still does, though. But, if you look in the dictionary under "anal" you'll see his mug!

I didn't stop using it because I don't like it. I'm just looking for something easier :smt001

I use the same thing. Salt water 100% of the time and used 2 to 3 days each week. I did the entire boat over 1 year ago and the low traffic areas still look great. The high traffic areas need occassional touch up. From the rub rail down every 90 days or so.

Once I am done compounding, I use Meguairs Flagship on the boat. It's a polymer and bonds to the finish and last about as long as anything else out there. If I have time I apply two coats of Flagship.

Used Meguiars Flagship the first year and it was good. Used Starbrite Teflon Polish with PTEF last year and I was very impressed. I won't go back to Flagship.

I would saw there is a big difference between waxes and polishes. In the old days, waxes were used, good shine and depth, but not longevity due to low boiling point. The new polymers as indicated above, PTEF (Liquid Glass, Starbrite Teflon polish) work by applying "coats" on the surface and build up over time. They do not yellow or change color. I have been using the polymer polishes on all my vehicles over the past 15 years and absolutely would not recommend anything but this for the boat.

I had a tub of 3m paste and spent the past few hour working out my shoulders. I will get some of the new miracle stuff and apply a second coat before I splash it in a few weeks. I sure appreciate the feedback all

How do you do this when the boat is still in the water?

Yes id like to know that also, what do you do??? hang off the side???

I just drop the dinghy over the side and use a couple of suction handles to tie off. Works great and is something to do when everyone else is sleeping half the day away!

I don't see a dinghy in my future but I can see it would work.

FYI: I've (and friends and family) got a couple of the $3.99 ones. Every so often they're on sale in a store for $1.99 so I'll pick up a few. I've had one on the boat for about 5 or 6 years, now. We even use them in our store to pull boats around. Super strong!

Just wanted to point out to the original poster…….how long you can go will vary greatly depending on many factors.

For example;

-Do you wash the boat with soapy water? How often? Wash with water and a wet towel only and your finish will last longer.

- Covered slip or under the sun?

- Sunny Florida or Northern Wisconsin?
