We went to Northport this weekend to the sand bar. Harbormaster came over to kick us off because the beach was closed. It was hard to hear him so I couldn't understand the explanation. We were below bird nesting area, probably 10 ft from the water. Is this COVID related restriction or something specific to that sandbar?

We're planning to go to Port Jeff with some friends in a few weeks but first want to confirm the beaches are open to pull up and drop off a few chairs to lounge in.

Think I was right there when they came over to you. We were wondering why they came over to you, I thought it was b/c of the bird area....

Its closed because people were coming out from the city 3 weeks ago, weren't social distancing and left the beach and the bird sanctuary littered with bottles, diapers and garbage.

Aghh makes sense, the diblasio encouraged invasion

Come to the south shore,
Plenty of choices. (And some of the nicest beaches in the world!)
