Long beach fishing trip

Hi guys. We are visiting long beach for the week and I would like to take my son(10) on a fishing trip. Does anyone have any good suggestions for fishing trips? Or other areas to check out? We are here until fri.

I am not a fisherman, but are you going to have access to an offshore boat?

The most popular offshore fishing grounds around here are the flats off Huntington Beach, I believe its around 10 miles out, but some days you will literally see a hundred boats out that way. I have never done any of the day trip boats out of any of the local harbors, again I am not a fisherman, but you might look at those as well. I wouldn't fish off Long Beach, the water is too polluted, but you can catch sharks, rays and several different types of fish.

Shoreside we have no fishing in metro LA to speak of, there are a couple reservoirs where you can shoot fish in a barrel so to speak, but we are not a fishing destination.

If you are looking for entertainment, its LA, its endless, I assume you are going to Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo or Seaword, Universal or something like that. You can always go down to LB marina tomorrow and watch someone work on my engine if you get bored....
