Does anyone know where to find the boat serial number on a 1969 21' SeaRay SRV 240?
we need to find it to register the boat (we just purchased)
There's a serial number on the title but the Parks and Wildlife people say there's a serial number etched on the boat hull but we can't find it. Are the tow numbers the same?
Thanks.

On the starboard side of the stern, there should be an embossed number, molded into the fiberglass, about 4 inches long, and 1/2 inch high, and is usually located somewhere above the water line.
The last two numbers would be "69", indicating the year of manufacture.
This is the way it has been done for at least 25 years, but I'm really not sure that it was required in 1969. If in fact it isn't there, you'd probably have to contact Sea Ray to locate it.

The above location description is accurate for boats manufactured after November 1, 1972, but is not correct for earlier boats.

Prior to that date, each manufacturer was on his own so serial number locations varied between manufacturers and even between models in a given manufacturer's product line.

On a 1969 look for an aluminum plate rivited to the transom inside the boat or somewhere near the control station.

Frank,
As always, your wealth of knowledge never ceases to amaze me.
Fondly,

even if you could find a metal plate engraved or printed on you wont be able to read it, its going to be corroded and beyond recognition.

if you could find a hull number somewhere else on the boat its probably going to be an incomplete number, its probably just going to be the run number of that year and will not be a number like boats have now.

My 1967 had a partial number on the stringer, its gone.
I have a 1969 as well, only number on it is the run number, but nowhere near a complete number.
