We live in the Northeast and are considering a rental this winter in Cape Coral. We have a 20’ boat that will fit behind one of the places we are considering. In looking at google maps it is hard to tell how long it would take to get to the river or gulf from a canal near veterans memorial parkway and right off of S.W. 20th Avenue.

Any insights as well as local knowledge would be awesome.

Thanks

Without an exact address I cannot be exact, but probably 45 minutes to the river. It's all an idle speed zone, though many cheat. You will likely have a couple bridges to go under and there are locks located at Cape Harbor. That can be quite a wait on occasion. Once in the river it is slow speed till about half way to the Sanibel Bridge.

If you’re west of Chiquita you have a lock to deal with.... my guess is 40 minutes east of Chiquita... but depends on where you are..you could have to do a lot of snaking

SW 20th Ave and Veterans to the river is over a hour. I am just north of cape coral parkway between agulinda and the spreader and it takes about 40 min to get to the river.

Thank you all for the insights. You confirmed what we thought in terms of the travel time to get out of the canals.

Any suggestions on places to go and things to do with a 20’ in Cape Coral?

Tons of boating to do here, stay between the navaids. We go to south end of north captiva on the outside. If gulf is relatively calm its a really nice area. On your way home head up into St James City and stop at ragged ass or Woody's. Oh. and The Boat House up river is a days boating .

Have finalized your plan yet?

As a newbie to Cape Coral Boating we would welcome recommendations on a places in the Cape Coral area (within 15-20 minute ride from the Cape Harbor Lock) to beach a 20’ outboard boat and hang. Thanks in advance!
