LKN marinas, slow?

Bartender says it picks up later when the 100 degree heat index wears off.

I played 9 holes of golf yesterday after work...the heat was brutal.....heat index well over 100* with high humidity and no wind blowing at all.....I can see why this is enough to keep many people at home instead of being on the water or at the docks or going out to restaurants....

That's what I fear Dave. Why do I keep hearing the recession/depression is over and we are doing better? Really I don't think I see it. I do see a class of people buying, but I allways wonder if they are living in the proverbial house of cards.

Brother's retired now, but used to be a player. There's nothing out there to speak of.
We were discussing this and other things on Wednesday night particularly as they apply to Vets.

What kind of government sends a kid to war and gives him/her a pink slip on the battlefleld. The BLS unemployment figures are a joke. Look at the employment figures from Forbes or ShadowStats.com. I'm 60. Mark my words. We will be in a religious war within 5 years. It'll take another several years after that to clean it up. We won't see real economic recovery for a decade."

The entire globe is living in that house of cards.

Once again, I fear you are correct Dave. Frankly, I don't understand how folks are doing what they do. I supposedly have a great paying job, but I can't seem to afford the toys I see people buying around me. I keep wondering, Is it going to happen again!? haha nervous laughter.

Yesterday the heat and humidity was killer. Today the humidity was tolerable.

I cruised around the marina in my dingy today....good thing nobody was there, I had everybodys boat rocking! I kept waiting for someone to come out and yell at me but nobody did. lol

No humidity today fellas. Gonna be big Carolina blue skies. We are hitting Port City for lunch then anchoring over by Westport. Stop by if your on the lake.

Holy cow Batman, guess I spoke to soon. Jim, Cliff, guess y'all were right! One nice day and the people come back like ants. Geeze, fair weather boaters, who would have thunk it.
Ok, sorry I jinked myself. Everyone can go back home to the a/c. I couldn't get into the Blue Parrot, to many people fighting each other for not enough chairs. Couldn't get to "my" anchoring spot in the cove.To many people blocking the parking lot. Strange faces walking the docks, that don't belong on the docks...........sigh.
What was I thinking. Lol

Definitely more boats anchored over by Westport yesterday. Even Port City had a good number of boats tied up though there were still plenty of slips available. I may head up to the Blue Parrot today on the waverunner. Getting tired of the sausage factory at the Rudder.

I like Port City. It's just a long run for me. I like the formal/casual atmosphere. It's weird to be in shorts and be served by the wait staff in dressy gear.

I rafted out in the cove today with some friends. Jim you make it up here to the parrot?

I was out today - we go to the big cove to port heading up mountain creek (toward the Boatrack) when I don't have time to go very far. Definitely more people out. The Blue Parrot looks like chaos on most weekends. Tend to go to the Boathouse or The Landing - went to Port City (when it was Midtown) and North Harbor when we were at PYC, but it's a long trip now.

Mike,

I got lazy and went to the Rudder again. There were a lot of boats out and the lower lake was really chopped up. Makes it tough sledding on the waverunner. I may head up in afternoon one day this week.

I thought about you guys this WE when I saw the weather was going to be nice with less humidity....perfect summer boating weather.....glad you got out and enjoyed it....

I am still dealing with health issues with my elderly parents but I hope to get back on the water soon...have not even seen my boat for several weeks....I guess it is still floating....

The lake will be much smoother during the week. I'm working day shift this week or I'd meet up with you.
