Holy cow! I haven't stayed at LKN for the 4th in years.
I usually go to the Abacos over the 4th, but this year we said no to the unpredictable weather, and thank goodness we did. Hurricane Aurther would have made it bad.

So LKN, what a madhouse! I don't think I'll stay here again. To many non boaters driving boats, and being a danger to everyone.

We have debated about a boat drivers license before, and I was against it..........I am changing my mind. It would be nice to make people pass a comprehensive "driving" exam in order to get one. I think it would cut down on stupidity! haha

I watched a guy plow into the docks at a waterfront restraunt because he thought someone was going to steal "his" place in line. It was funny, but not so funny at the same time. The guy driving the boats wife, started yelling at him to not let the other jerk get in front of them. So he hit the throttle and lost control. His boat hit the slip support, glanced off the side and went up on the opposite finger dock. His outdrive spraying water like a fountain, haha Why do people get themselves so worked up over who is first. I just hung back and eventually we all got a slip for our boats. Heck there was an hour wait for a table lol.

For the record, I left "my" boat on it's trailer, and was driving a pontoon boat! So I could act like a moron if I wanted too! hahaha

we got out Sunday afternoon and stayed pretty much around the Mountain Creek area....i knew we did not want to fight the madness on the lower lake since it was a holiday WE and great boating weather....but don't worry, there were some idiots driving boats in our area also.....we encountered one nice family in a bow rider with the dad driving and pulling his young son on skies....the mother and young daughter riding and watching with pleasure....as i was a leaving our finger cove and about to hit some bigger water my path crossed this delightful family...well, for some unknown reason the dad decided life was not interesting enough and steered the boat directly in front of my path all the while pulling his young son on skies.....i had too throttle down quickly to keep from running into the idiot....i bet we came within 25 yards of each other....i told my wife what if the son had fallen off the skies in front of us and we were not looking...we would have run all over the poor kid.....

unbelieveable.......

The pontoon folks pulling their kids on tubes down the main channel were out in force also. I can't understand how a parent could put their kid on a tube down the middle of a busy channel beats me.
