Has anyone gone out the Little Egg Inlet recently? I read in the local LBI paper that the bouyed channel has experienced some shoaling and that it is very shallow in spots. The article went on to say that the Coast Guard is planning on moving the markers in the next few weeks but until then use caution.

Thanks

Mark

Not yet, but I'm heading to AC for the July 4th weekend and we were planning to go through then. I'll let you know in a few weeks. However, I remember going through once last year where I saw less than 5 feet under the boat on the way out and started get a little on edge!!!

5 feet is deep in the back bays....in the Atlantic...it's 'concerning'!!!!

I read somewhere that something like 50% of the inlets in NJ are almost not passable due to shoaling. The inlets that are passable therefore are apt to be very rough to go through as they become 'fast water' inlets. Apparently this problem has been getting worse. I know the Great Egg inlet near us is one of the worst in NJ - rough water and dangerous if you don't know where the low spots are.

we did it last year going from beach haven to ocean city. not a problem. i would without doubt time it with high water and you'll get an exta 3 feet. it is a hi-traffic inlet (local fishermen and party boats esp).

here's a good site for tides - use "little sheepshead creek"
