Listing Trim Tabs??

Recently purchase 2006 SeaRay Sundancer 260, and am having trouble getting the boat to stay straight while at cruising speed... It either lists to right or left, and gets worse in rough waters... I've been experimenting with the trim tabs and it seems to help , then it starts to list again... Any Thoughts?

Are you trimming your leg up once up on the plane? This makes a difference to my boat. Also if you are boating in gusty conditions they will lean into the wind if you try to maintain your course.

One of my past boats (1989 268 Dancer) had a similar issue. I referred to it as the "tippy canoe". In my case, the solution was to put wider/deeper trim tabs on the boat (no need to reposition the rams) which seemed to provide much better stability. It also allowed me to travel in rough conditions on plane at a lower speed to avoid "slamming".

After this success, I went one step further and installed Bennett's Auto Trim Tab System so it could make the constant adjustments as conditions changed.

There is an EXTENSIVE thread on this in which Dave S (former member) cracked the code on "05 and up 260 performance - it involves starting with the trim all the way down and slowly trimming once you get on plane -find and read that thread - it will solve your problem!

I have to agree about trimming the outdrive up some when you are on plane. It sound to me that the boat is trimmed too far bow down and is "bow steering".

Thanks for the responses.... When I do trim the outdrive up on plane, the boat definitely does not list...I need to experiment more with the boat as I've only had for 2 weeks now.... I will also try and find the "Dave S" thread that cracks the code!!!

I've also read about the Auto Trim tab system....That may be a consideration later on...
