linkage problem? ???

Ok. 1984 270. Twin 3.8L witb OMC outdrives. Starboard motor will increase in rpm, but there is no noticeable engagement of the outdrive. Linkage appears fine and moves. It is definitely not in neutral but that's how it acting.....HELP!

Probably a spun coupler or prop.

I was hoping for a spun hub. But wouldn't i get at least some movement in fwd or rev?

Not if its totally let go.

Ok so i had the boat pulled out. With the engine not running and in neutral the prop spins freely. If I engage tue shift in either fwd or rev the prop does not spin. Even if i grab the prop to see if there is slipping it stays firm. That's what it should do correct?
