My best friend's wife passed away yesterday after a 4 month battle with cancer. This is having a profound affect on me. Susan was only 50 and leaves behind my buddy and their 3 kids ranging from 14 to 21.

It occurs to me that living each day as if its your last is a very valid way to look at life. For those on this board who have experienced this terrible disease, my hat is off to you for surviving amd giving cancer the bird. Enjoy everyday you have and, especially, those being on the water on a great boat.

Thanks for letting me vent...

Lost my Father-in-Law to melanoma last month. He was a Sea Ray guy who got me interested in boating years ago. Took some great Ohio river trips on his 340 DB. Life is short.

Very sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks and though we keep fighting it continues to kill. Please let the family know the CSR family is praying for them and for you.

Mark, always sad to hear of the loss of a loved one to cancer. My thoughts and prayers for all especially the children. It is a terrible illness that I think we have all dealt with at some point in our lives... may it be loved ones or ourselves. Best of life and love to all...

Mark sorry to hear about the loss of a friend especially at such a young age. I am 49 and see soooooo many people in this age bracket passing away from cancer especially in the enviroment that I have worked in the past 25 years
You can't help but worry about it and as you said "Live it well you can"

So sorry for your loss, We lost my FIL 1 1/2 years ago to lung cancer. Took 4 months from when he went in the hospital on Christmas eve to take him. Cancer sucks.

So sorry for your loss Mark. As a funeral director it's staggering how much of this I see. I'm actually burying a 23yr old girl today who was diagnosed a year ago. Cancer is a terrible disease who knows no age, race or social status. Live life to the fullest everyday and let's continue to fight and hope they can find a cure one day. Thoughts and prayers to you and your friend.

Sorry to hear that Mark.....our prayers are with you all. Lost my friend at 52 (my age) of Lung Cancer two years ago and he never smoked or was around second hand smoke. He was a machinist and was around lots of cutting oil etc. He hung in there for a year trying all the options they gave him at numerous reseach centers etc. He left a wife and two daughters and many friends. Hang in there Mark, Mike.

Sorry for your losses, cancer does suck... I know first hand, 17 years ago I was given 6-months to 1 year max due to kidney and liver cancer, I was 27 and just married. Spent 4 weeks in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan and had some radical surgeries to remove 1 kidney, and a piece of my liver. I was definitely given a second chance! At that time we had a 250 DA, I was about 6 months post op, and my wife and I took our boat on a 500 mile round trip cruise to Canada and back (we left from CT!). I am very grateful to get a second chance, and hope I make the best of it...

Mark, Thats sad news to read, thoughts & prayers to you & your friend's family.
