Liagra anyone???

i am british and i am an obama fan. seems to take a lot of knocks on this site. dont know why.

from a distance (europe), he reminds me of JFK: A man who truly wants to make a better world. I can understand thats not easy.

politicians are such a sullied bunch - cant talk straight, feather their own nests, driven by power. it's actually refreshing to have an idealist. i know idealism can appear to be naievity to some, but its better than the alternative.

in spain almost every mayor is corrupt - its even expected. you're a fool if you're mayor and you're not on "the take". what a sad state of affairs. no: i'll take the idealist every time.

i honestly believe that history will judge obama as a giant force for positive change in the 21st century. of course......... that'll be after his second term!

Well... maybe after he is run out of this country, you can all elect him to be your supreme ruler over there. He'll be much happier over there... big government, high taxes, etc...

Maybe you missed the evening news (or a history class) but the USA was founded by kicking Britain out... If we wanted your form of government, we wouldn't have had the Boston Tea Party or a Revolutionary War... or the Constitution... The rules are different here for a reason... mainly because yours suck. It always kills me when Obama says "every industrialized nation provides free healthcare for their people." Good for them... if that's what you want, move over there.... but our ancestors left for a reason. Obama and his dumbsh!t cronies think the Constitution is a "suggestion"... Bzzt.

Everyone should be given equal opportunity but outcomes should be based on your ability and dedication to take advantage of opportunity.... not government dictating "everyone should be the same"... outcomes are not guaranteed.

No offense, but any American politician that has British "fans", most likely has a lot of pissed off constituents.

Let us know who you guys really can't stand. They'd probably make one hell of a great President for us.

Obama is now in a race with Jimmy Carter to see who will be the absolute worst president in history. Carter is trying as hard as he can to help Obama win...

Long live free British Health Care.

whoa!
there's some feeling here!!!
i love your contributions 4suns, and i respect your opinions (and your help when ive needed it...). and i know that im an outsider. but it isnt just american citizens that "live" in an obama world. we all do, cause america is the "biggest kid in the playground".

i stand by my comments above re future history.

i lived in the middle east at the time of the first gulf war, with my wife and 4 little kids - just across the shaat al arab waterway from the bad guys. you want to know how come we could sleep at night? i'll tell you: because the "biggest guy in the playground" looked after us all. i love the USA. i support the great majority of your foreign policy. i worked for a US comapny for 20 years - have many GREAT friends from that time. i dont apologise for being british.

there is a world recession. WORLD. fancy becoming US president at THAT time. give the fucking guy a chance.

PS dont you just love a good debate?

HEY!!! No serious political opinions or positions are allowed in this thread. The damn picture is fantastically funny, admit it!!!

Admit it, admit it, admit it!!!

I have got to get some work done today...

Second term? You have got to be kidding. After the 2010 elections, the Democrats are going to lose so many seats that Obama won't be able to pass gas. He's going to be a lame duck starting in 2010, and he will be gone in 2012. :smt038

Sorry to disappoint you (not).

There's a reason for that. You only get the main (corrupt) media over there. You don't get the other side of the story. Without the rest of the story, or extremely detailed research, you don't have the whole picture. Imagine I tell you that I really want to make your boat maintenance free. Vote for me, and I truly will do everything I can to make it free. Sounds great. We all want that. Can't happen. Won't happen. You get the idea.

He reads a great talk (tele-prompter). As an example: The rep who yelled out "You Lie," during the presedential address was actually correct. Obama said that the health care bill would not help illegal aliens. It even says in the text that it will not be afforded to illegal aliens. Problem is, there is absolutely no way to determine whether or not a recipient is an illegal alien. There is no meat to the enforcement. It was an out and out lie. There is no other way to look at it.

Even his liberal media backers admitted that he was not telling the truth about the topic. This is one example. He says exactly what you want to hear. He says a lot about what I want to hear. But, there is no truth to what he says. That's why those of us with direct access to the other side of the story bash him here. He is bad for our country.

Time and time again our government has proven that they can not run any institution in the black. Social Security is failing miserably. Where are those funds going to come from? Where are socialized medicine funds going to come from? Higher tax rates? Higher tax rates have been proven to provide less revenue. All that they accomplish is to punish the productive, successful members of our society. It has nothing to do with revenue generation. It's all about pleasing your own constituents to in essence "buy" your next round of votes.

"That's right! We'll show the rich who's boss! Times are a changin'!"

Problem is, they're mostly right. The rich are fleeing the taxation for greener pastures. Jobs are being cut to pay for increased tax rates. The flow of cash is slowed - less hacks at the dollar for the govenment. It does hurt the rich, but not as much as it hurts the rest of our economy. The ONLY ones to gain are the ones that ensure themselves another term in office. The corrupt thieves at the top. SSDD (Same Stuff, Different Day).

Why would we give Osama more of a chance. All of his ideas are to take from what I have and give to those who have less and to make decisions for me. I have done OKAY thus far and do not need anyone else to make decisions for my life. I graduated from College in 1992 in debt up to my eyeballs (paid for it myself). EVERYTHING I own is due to my hard work, luck and my skills, NOT because ANYONE gave me anything. I personally don't give a sh!t what outsiders believe, but I do feel you outsiders have different objectives, values and cultures and therefore should mind their own business in terms of our dictator, um president.

I called you a gd brit in a pm...better to let you know than have it bite me in the arse later...fyi.

I think the reason Obama is love so much by the rest of the world is because he is not Bush, Bush would do what he thought was right for America, Obama on the other hand will poll the rest of the world 1st. after he apologizes for America being on the wrong side of most of the issues facing the world…:smt021

The Republicans taking the House/Senate in 2010 in my view is a best case scenario for the country.

Note that at the end of the Clinton's second term, where the D's and R's had spent six years bashing each other to prevent nest feathering we actually had a budget surplus.

Hmmm. Everyone keeps talking about the great socialism being "suddenly" thrust upon us. The Tarp bailouts, as I recall, were proposed by the previous Executive branch. Wasn't there also a round of automotive bailouts prior to January 2009?

The medicare legislation of 2003 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_Prescription_Drug,_Improvement,_and_Modernization_Act was passed by a Republican President and a Republican congress. That socialized medical plan grew substantially (the perscription drug benifit) as a result. It was not even advertised as a repeal of medicare. The Social Security program was not eliminated by the past Republican President and Legislature (although privatization was discussed). I do not hear the Republican leadership calling for elimination now.

While the current administration is to the left of the previous administration, it is not as far to the left as a lot of commentators -who make money using inflammatory rhetoric- would portray. The Republicans are very capable of socialist pandering.

So how did we elect our current President? Hmmm. Think about it. The economy was tanking and several aspects of the goobermint (i.e. the Mid East wars) were not being run very well for a long period of time.

You would have had to nominate a superstar for the incumbent party to hold the Executive last year. Instead. . they nominated McCain.

As for honesty. . .read the second paragraph of the wikipedia article linked above.

As for the teleprompter. . .at least this President can read one.

NO; I am not an Obama fan. I think he is letting Pelosi and Reid walk all over him. That is bad. Is he the worst we had? Pfft. Too soon to tell. Everyone thought George was really good for a good long time. Then look what happened.

Are the Republicans the answer? Hardly. All I see there is a bunch of posturing -> and a knee jerk obstructionism. Not even a wiff of leadership on that side of the aisle right now.

And I only post left leaning stuff when I am drunk and want to rile up the crowd. Normally I just laugh.

do any democrats own boats for fucks sake?

No - they are all too busy trying to figure out how to convince the world that Osama is worth a crap. Good thing the rest of the world can't vote, otherwise he might actually stand a chance at getting that second term. God help us!
