Alex,
My vote is for Montauk!! Since it is the "Long Island Rendevous" it should probably be on Long Island!!

I am going to try and do Block Island too. Maybe those of us who are going to do both should try and coordinate now? We could do it before or after Montauk, however it fits into everyones plans. Just my 2 cents!

Is it still ok to pick on Todd?
Last i checked, Greenport - Mitchells Park IS on Long Island :)

Steve, Dave, Ric, Joe - what took you so long? I thought I'll have to start knocking on your doors. I'll be happy to add you guys to the list.

Great pictures guys. Dave that shot should have been submitted for the calendar.

Joe,
That is one crazy pic!! Who was the photographer looney enough to be out in that weather taking that shot? LOL

Hey Wiseguy,
I know that Greenport is on Long Island but, so is MONTAUK!! How am I wrong here?
The other spots not on Long Island may require that I lay over a night because I'm not sure how the family is going to tolerate the long ride as we have not ventured there yet!
Nothing to see here, move along!!:smt043

Todd,

I look forward to actually seeing your boat this year, I may need to steal some parts!!!:smt043

Joe, That is one crazy pic!!

It looks like Joe is approaching an inlet and going too slow (at least that's how I see it it). It's a cool shot, though. An eye openner.

Alex, i was approaching shinnecock inlet, however. The speed was all i could go to have any control. We where getting thrown around bad. With rock jetty's on both sides i wasnt looking to break any speed records, we would throttle up the wave and surf down the face of it It was very hairy getting in there , and I had the biggest boat in the trio. Some of the other folks where turning green and glad to get to calmer waters.

Joe, I perfectly understand. As always your comfort zone to make sure that you're in control is most important. But, just keep in mind that as with anything, when approaching an inlet finding the "golden middle or the balance" is what gives you the best ride. You go too fast you get bounced around and can loose control, going too slow you'll experience what you already know. It's a roller-coaster ride for 10-15 min that feels like an hour. 320 is a great boat and can handle seas very well. I try not to drop off plane when going in any inlet. When it's rough I would adjust my speed to my comfort zone and ride/surf the big waves. 16MPH @3150RPMs was the slowest my 320 could go to stay on plane. If I'm about to hop over the wave I would make the call if it's safe enough to do it and stay on plane or slow down bit more and stay on it. On a gas boat you'll constantly work the throttles. Every situation is different and the more you do it the better you'll get at it. Being a lead boat in this situation doesn't help much, b/c you're the one to lead the best way to approach an inlet. If you go too fast for other smaller boats at least they have a choice to slow down and catch up later. If you go too slow they have no choice as they won't even attempt to pass you in the inlet (unless it's a boat loaded with drunk fishermen). Just a quick friendly advice, FWIW.

Greg,
I don't have one of those new fangled smart phones. What is that? The new Name Tag design for this gathering?

Ok guys, let's start voting. I created a quick spreadsheet matrix to help us to see the results. I think it's fine if one person has more than one choice. The bottom line is the marina that gets most votes will win.

I'll add this to the first page so we'll have centralized view of important announcements.

3,2,1 for me.

Greg, after reading that article I entered the Inlet correctly. Thanks for the post.

first 2 second 7 third 1
John, you had to make a simple poll to a complicated calculation.................no re-counts :smt009 Here's what it looks like now:
