We might be interested... We're going to do Nantucket and Block. If the stars align, we'll join the party.

I'm scheduled to do most of these ports in late July. I'll have to see what my trip mates think about moving the trip into August and aligning at least one port with you guys. Alex I think you experienced most of the Sea Ray owners I boat with on A/B pier at Watch Hill. Count us in for now.

Wow, a lot has happened since the last time i logged in! Is that all I had to say- let's do Greenport?! Now we have venues, dates, a new thread and Alex at the charge-excellent!!

Obviously count us in, anytime August is good and anywhere mentioned works. Few thoughts- Block is expensive at the dock but accommodating (I will be there for 2 weeks in July). You can put two people on a mooring for $40 a night each, lots of them but first come first serve and they run a launch service. Greenport at Townsend it's a bit of a walk into town but very nice with pool. Mitchell no pool but right in the middle of everything, new floating cement docks and can jump in the water. Nothing really on Shelter but easily accessed from Greenport, great anchorage. Montauk is expensive and a ride into town, very nice but not a whole lot going on. Just two cents.

Russ,

I'm glad to have you back my friend. You make good points in regards to the places. We should choose the marina based on number of criterias, including being not over priced. I agree that charges ($5 p/f with 40' min.) in fency places like MYC might chase few boaters away.

Mike, that would be great! Can I add you to the list?

Brian,
If we end up meeting at Watch Hill, I'll be next to you on the "A" dock.

I got you on the list in the first post.

Wow Russ,
After reading that I don't think I want to go anymore.........
I'm gonna have a little trouble with the Mrs. as she is not a boater at heart like myself. She has agreed to the AC trip with shadow9999, Robert. But her first reaction to another trip with a group of peeps she doesn't know has been less than stellar! I think she is afraid I will disappear to socialize leaving her alone to care for the kids. I will continue to work on her or else I will need a buddy to first mate the run.......Either way I am really looking for to the summer!!
Sorry Todd- didn't mean to bum you out! No excuses this year, you have to make it!!

Thanks Alex, i am very glad you are at the helm my friend, let me know how i can help. I will be at most of the proposed locations prior to August so if i can scout anything out for anyone let me know.
I forget, did you say you were going to the NY show? If so call me and let's grab a beer this weekend. Hope all is well.

...I would be up for it, but not sure if my kids would enjoy such a trip. I start hearing "how much longer?" 1/2 hour into some trips.:smt013

Vince,
I can offer your kids riding on Danianna (my friend's sailboat), who most likely will participate as well. After that they'll be ready to go anywhere on your boat...

But seriously, my kids loved that trip and didn't want to comeback home. We have lot's of toys now days, so something like an ipod or dsi should keep them busy. Something I've learned while training dogs (I had 2 German shepherds), have different set of "toys/games". They call them “A” toys and “B” toys. Let the kids use “A” toys on the daily basis and keep special set of “toys/games” just on the boat. The idea is that they’ll miss those toys and will enjoy them much more while letting you enjoy your time getting from point A to point B. I use this method for my kids sometimes, but I also let them use what they want (e.g. play Wii or just watch movies, etc...) to keep them entertained. Anytime on board should be the happy time.

Alex

I just noticed you changed your signature and your boat to "2005 420DB". So I guess you found a boat. Congratulations! Did you start a thread somewhere about it? Any Pics? Are you planning on staying in Chadwick?

I also see:

Previously Owned:
320DA, 5.7 350MAGs MPI V-Drives

So that's also good news...

Congrat Alex on your new boat... If you need any help transporting it to its new home I am willing an able to help..... Might want to start an new thread with the pictures...

Thanks guys!

Our company now blocks many social sites, including photobucket, so I have to find some time to post pics form home (without loading them directly here, which is a pain as I have huge files).

The story is very simple, besides the fact that I found exceptionally clean boat and the owner who pempered her as part of the deal my 320 was accepted as a trade (for reasonable amount), which was the biggest driver. The rest was just regular process details. I did both surveys (hull and mechanical). I have few things that I'll have to address, but in overall the condition of the boat was very much acceptible to me.

It was very "interesting" running the boat in 27degrees with water being 34degrees. When we came back there was ice all over the boat.

She's currently shrink-wrapped and inpatiently waiting for spring. Obviously, I'm counting the days I can take the wrap off.

Based on the height of the pilings in your picture and the reported temp, I assume the boat is located in Northern New England somewhere. Should be an easy trip home in the spring.

Alex, I had a friend who owned lobster boats in Mass, and he said in the winter the ice would build up so much that they had to break off the ice to keep the boat from capsizing... The good thing about being out on the boat in 27 degrees ins there aren't many other people on the water. Hope you have cockpit heat... Knowing you, you are probably looking at getting the boat sometime in March. Assume you took pictures of your mainden voyage... That would be fun to see...

I launched my boat last year on March 18th from Monmouth Beach, NJ. I drove out to the ocean around Sandy Hook, down to Manasquan Inlet, through the Point Pleasant Canal and ended my trip in Brick NJ on Barnegat Bay. Except for a ferry inside of Sandy Hook, I did not see any other boat on the water. It was a freakishly warm day for the time of year. I think the temp hit 70. It was a amazing.

I hope you have the same luck!
