We are on the way. Should be there by noon, weather is great, the sound is flat, but there are crab pots everywhere...

Have a great trip.....

Greg....fire up that slushy machine!!!!

We're leaving Greenport (Townsend Manor Marina) today arond 1230, somehow I lost track of your schedules and didn't know some of you were here. I should be going past Mitchell around 1245. Hope to make it to Watch Hill next weekend, though I do need to detox after 2 weeks away on the boat.

We had a great ocean ride and jumped in to the Jones Inlet. The ICW was well marked and not a big deal to navigate. We stopped by to check out Watch Hill and wait for the tide in moriches to role in. I was speachless to see 4' right by buoy #28 under my boat at the high tide. I can' understand why CG cares less to have this small streach dredged, although I've heard that after many years the project might be underway. But, what a PITA for local boaters just b/c of one small spot.

We arrived in Westhamton around 5pm yeterday. Guess what who we see whiile pulling in to WH?......Brian (bmac) and his gang rafted waiting for high tide in moriches.

Leaving the WHampton late moring to head out to Shelter Island.

Safe ride to everyone. See you all soon.

Thanks to everyone for a great Sunday afternoon yesterday. My first time to Shelter Island was very enjoyable. I couldn't stay for the overnight so next time I will make sure I read the thread more closely. Hope to see youse guys around again soon.

Gene

Gene,

Sounds like you guys made it home just fine. Sorry you couldn't stay longer, but we're glad we had a chance to meet you guys. It was perfect 2 days at Shelter Island for us. We're now in Greenport and it's raining. Oh well, it has to rain sometime.

We'll be back in LI more often now, but don't be shy to visit us in NJ waters.

See you soon,
Alex.

Alex, A cold front is coming through tomorrow night. Be careful with the high wind tomorrow night...

Thanks for looking out for us, Rod. I'll keep an eye on it.

Ric,

I think we saw you guys taking off along with 400DB as we were entering the SI harbor. Greg and Russ told me that that you guys were part of the raft just before we arrived. Man you got some wake even at trolling speed on that 450. We loved cruising LI waters and looking forward to be back next year. Hopefully we'll see you guys next year.

Cheers,
Alex.

Update - We had a great time at Shelter, sorry some could not stay. We packed a lot in an overnight, toured a local log cabin on a private island, swimming, BBQ and cant forget crabbing and the fish slayer - Ashley!! With the biggest fish caught! (snapper blue).
We made it to Westhampton Monday afternoon, slow but uneventful ride. Thankfully Alex gave us the heads up on a couple trouble spots. I did enjoy the slip and slide ride through the lock in the canal! Current was running strong! We had a blast in WH town, Frank (dockmaster) at the town dock was great and very helpful.
We left WH this morning and arrived in Watch Hill Fire Island. Another slow but uneventful trip thanks to Frank and a transient neighbor. This place is beautiful, did a little exploring and BBQ. Then we braced for dusk and the bugs! to no avail!! I saw three horse flies all day and no mosquitos!! Not one! There has been a good breeze and we did put up the camper back, I do believe its an issue out here but I am in no hurry to discover them.
We are looking forward to the beach and festivities tommorow and the arrival of fellow CSR members in the coming days - safe travel to all.

Russ,

I'm glad you made it thru safelly. How were the depths in those spots (I don't remember if you were able to go thru there at hight tide or slack)?

Westhampton was great, admiral and kids loved it.

We're at the Montauk and I have to say that this is the best marina (MYC) we've ever seen.

Hey Greg,
We haven't herd from you for a while. How's your trip? Did you get my email? Hope all is well.

If it has not already been mentioned here, you will need to call and reserve a slip the day of your arrival. This reservation guarantees you an assigned slip unoccupied for the entire day through 9PM. The phone number is: (631) 597-3109 (phone line opens at 8:30AM). Please mention that you are part of the LI / CSR Rendezvous, and the dock master can keep us all close.

I called this morning and discussed that we will have 10 boats coming in between now and Friday. There will not be a problem keeping us together. A Pier / B Pier (Same dock) has enough slips to accommodate most of us.

Russ - I'm glad to hear that you are settled safe and sound. I'll be there latter this afternoon

Thanks for the info, Paul.

Hey guys, I'm in Boston today but should land around 7 tonight at LaGuardia. If the weather is good I plan on coming over to Watch Hill around 10 tonight, if not, first thing tomorrow morning. I don't fit on A/B Pier so I'll be over on D Dock. See you all there.

Alex, you've had the pleasure of some of the best marinas on LI; West Hampton Beach and my favorite, Montauk Yacht Club. Looking forward to my most frequent stop, Watch Hill. I haven't been there in 3 weeks....

Hey guys, just got home from Canada, so off to the supermarket for food shoppng I plan on calling in the morning for my slip nice to read all the threads from this week we were away so i'll see you guys on friday any problems we should know let us know thanks.

We have some distance to travel from Montauk to WH. We'll head out early in AM and I'll call WH for reservation around 8:30am. the tide should be ok in Shinnecock and Moriches. If I see you guys around 12:30-1pm. that means I timed it right...LOL. See you guys tomorrow. Hopefully the temps will start to climb up from 60s to 80s by timorrow.

Hey Guys,

Wish this darn vacation wasn't in the way and we could join you all for the second half, but all is going well. Mooring next to the battleship was really cool. We caught a crab for dinner (only 1, so we had to supplement).

Newport was great, touring the mansions, went on a ghost tour (did you know that those IR thermometers are handy for diagnosing engine problems and finding ghosts).

We are leaving for P-town in the morning.

Alex,
I did get your message, all is great so far. I got to turn my generator off once we hit Newport. Once I get back home, I'll set up the FTP and we can swap pics. Then we have to figure out where to meet up again.
