I will be setting up my 89 300 Sundancer for Lake Michigan fishing this winter and would like to see what others have done before I start mounting hardware. The picture is of my 81 245 after catching a limit of coho last spring

Where do you have your Bert's holders mounted? Are your trees or rocket launchers removable? I am going to try to make everything that I add for fishing removable for when the boat converts to a cruiser. Right now I am thinking about taking off all of the transom teak and mounting the Berts channel for mounting my 3 big jons and some rod holders.

Here's a few of my 268DA rigged for salmon and walleye on the Great Lakes:

You are aware that almost every harbor on the lake will be iced over in the winter? Sometimes the ice shelf (which does move) can extend all the way across as well. Phantom ice, along with 30 degree water temperature would have me looking for safer waters to fish in were it my choice.

Oh wait...Duh. You probably meant that you were doing the project over the winter, not actually fishing....my bad.

Taking responsibility in lieu of hiding flaws is a fading thing. It seems most people I run into in business these days "never" make a mistake and are very quick to blame others.

330 rig2.JPG330 rig1.JPG 1993 330 EC. Smith Flush Mount SS rod holders to accept Craig gimbal mounted Big Jon captain pak riggers on the corners and Craig gimbal mounted Triple rod holders on the side. Purchased the boat in May 2011 and did not have time to pull the arch and install a backer for the rocket launcher. very functional setup and it all installs and removes in less than five minutes.

I have them next to the waste and water fill. I used a 6 inch track so i can remove them to service the water and waste, then use a 4" tree to mount the diver holders.

I had my 320 completely rigged before we sold it and got the 480... hahah not I'm getting the 480 ready for salmon fishing, with Trolling valves, rod holders, and I'm seriously considering the stainless steel railing on the swim platform... it's a great idea for netting the fish...Custom made Rods with boats name in them are ready to go.... if anything We'll look damn good while we're fishing, but I completely expect this monster boat to be a great fishermen..Fishfinder being installed this winter too...We're going to Slay those Lake Michigan Kings... I can't wait.... it makes my skin tingle... hahahahah

Reel Turner,

Can you post or send me some bigger pictures? I am interested in setting up my 30 like your boat, where everything easily comes off. What are you planning for the arch? Why do you have to pull it?

Thanks,

Nate

worzy,
I think he is saying he has to pull the arch to make backing plates for the rocket launchers. When you load up the launchers with 8-10 rods, you may need to reinforce those fiberglass arches to support the load.

You can mount your rod holders and downriggers on these Berts Tracks so everything is easily removable.

Actually, there are a lot of manufacturers making track systems now, but Bert is probably the best known.

I've got small tracks on the side of my 268DA for Big Jon rod holders, you can see in this pic.

Has anyone taken their fiberglass arch apart to install a backing plate for rod holders? I am wondering how well the arch comes apart and even more important, how well it goes back together. It looks like the arch is made up of 2 halves, held together with many screws, is that correct?
