Hello,
I have a 2006 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 and all of sudden all the left side buttons (picture) not working. I've unplugged the that panel and plugged back in and no luck. The right side button panel is OK. I am very novice to boat electric and would like to get some ideas to troubleshooting the issue. I looked at the EIM ( I think) box under the helm with all the fuses and don't see anything that I can point to. Is there a circuit breaker maybe gone bad, that I can find?

Thanks in advanced.

Hi Mandi,
I am the manufacturer of those aftermarket keypads pictured in the post (thanks Spark600!).

My advice is to turn both batteries off and then back on while watching the keypads. Power cycling will re-initialize the communication link. That alone could solve the issue as the keypads should not be unplugged/plugged in while power is on. On power up, the LEDs should blink once on and off, followed by the backlight which should blink once on and off. After that, I would check all buttons on the working starboard side. If all buttons work, that proves that both front and aft EIM are good. I would then assume the keypad is indeed bad. I would say 95% of the time the issue is the keypad.

If the issue is still pointing towards the keypad, you can purchase my aftermarket plug and play replacement keypad(s) ($800, pics in above link) and install and test risk free. If issue is not solved (even if issue is found to be something unrelated) you can still return keypad for full refund. Alternatively, you can ship me the keypad and I can test it for free, since I have a complete EIM test setup for the keypads I sell.
