Okay, I'm not a boat guy, so I don't know if this is wrong or okay. I have an 1988 sundancer 270, twin merc 5.7 and bravo I outdrives. Last season, I didn't pay attention to which outdrive was port and starboard. The place that did my props labelled them port and starboard for me. The mechanics at the marina installed the outdrives, but the props were still at the shop. So, when I put the props on, I put them as labelled.
Today, the boat went in the water. And both forward controls sent the boat in reverse. So the mechanic simply swapped the props. I took it for a ride, it seems fine. But now I am wondering if its okay or not to have them this way. Any ideas?
I guess what I am wondering is if swapping the props is fine, or should I pull it back out of the water, and swap the outdrives and put the props back to port and starboard. I read that bravo outdrives can spin fine in either direction. And some boaters have the water push out to the side with normal RH and LH configuration, or sometimes they reverse it and have the water push out down the middle. Thanks for any help.
