I keep hearing of water damage from windows not being sealed properly on Classic Sea Rays.

Where does the water enter from?

Is it the trim/window frame around the glass?

Looks like the inside of the track for the sliding windows
Could be the culprit also?

I have no water damage now.
Much nicer to do preventive maintance now.
Then a possible nasty repair later.

Mine starboard forward window leaks if I take off the cover. So I just leave the cover on. I need it on anyway b/c the AC cant compete with the sunlight and the privacy is necessary. I THINK the water enters at the lower outboard corner. These are fixed windows and it looks like the PO tried some silicone in there to no avail.

My side windows leak a little and will be looking at those next. There is some seals and fuzzy stuff that goes in the tracks and channels the water to a little hole on the aft side of the tracks. I think there was a thread about this. Once I get the aft cabin windows fixed I will be tackling that project.

My windshield also has a small leak in the lower port side above the galley which I am gooing to fix too.

This has to be a labor of "Love!":smt021

Everything works on this boat.
Guess im looking for something to improve on.

Seal up my windows that are not leaking
Guess that beats hanging upside down in the bilge.
Looking for something to do :smt021

Wow alot of fun in one of those with twin 470's, I found clean and caulk all the wat around the frame does wonders. great boat.......

what size is your boat? Do you have twin 470s? I have the same setup if you are talkin 'bout the 4 cylinders.

About the windows, mine are leaking a little, not sure where from yet... My deck hatches leaked too, but all they needed was a new rubber seal. I found that regular bulb type rubber strips from the auto store works great for the hatches. Cheap too, unlike the stuff west marine sells.

PM tobnpr. He has a hole that you can drill in the channel to allow the water to drain instead of run inside. I haven't done it yet, thats why you should ask him about it. Ron just loves to put pics of his boat up! Even though his window is larger than my sliding glass door at home!:smt038:smt043

Thanks - I'll send him a pm.

I'm not sure what Ron likes more, putting up pics of his boat, or those extra big smileys!:smt043:smt043

The side windows usually leak for two reasons: Gunk in the tracks prevents the water from draining, or they need to be re-bedded. Re-bedding is easy; remove the rubber strip that covers the screws, remove the screws and window assembly, and re-bed.

is there anything you haven't done to these classics kieoke!? Thanks for the help, I know they are clean, so I'll re-bed them in a couple weeks when it warms up.

Yeah, but it's always the same pictures. That's what makes it EZ. Just commiserating about leakey windows on old boats. Ain't NO WAY I'm pulling a window out to stop the leak!

And now, for a change of pace, I'm going to put up a pic of Marks boat!

He kept bugging me to shoot down to maryland and help him pimp it out - so I finally did and took a quick pic before I headed back up north.

I was just thinking if you had the owners manual for the radar? I think I would trade shiney sides in for the camperback. The sides on that look like mine did, before they got pimped out! Funny thing is, I was wondering where you got the pic. It kinda looks like the marina the PO had the boat at. It wasn't until I noticed the red bottom paint. Don't hate on my almost new looking low miles Sea Ray! It was owned by an old lady who couldn't swim, and even though it's a 340 it was special made by Sea Ray and LOA is actually 47'
Real Picture!

I just did a boats.com search on your boat and found a red one. That one happens to be right here in NJ at Brennans, around the corner from my marina. It looks like a nice specimen.

Thanks keokie,
I had a bathroom window leak one time, Maybe wind driven rains.
I just want to do preventive maintaince before something could become a repair.

Ron, I need you to go "look" at it and get a few pieces from it! HAHA! I'm still looking for a system monitor.
