Sir,

Great product, love the tabs and even installed the automatic controller. I've noticed some issues with the speed in which the right tabs reacts and/or responds when the ATC is active. I'm attaching a picture that appears to indicate a leak out of the top, but I really don't get anything off of it when I wipe it down. I keep the boat really clean, but both tabs have the same look as the picture I'm attaching.

Thanks Rick

The first thing to do to see if there is really a leak is to put both Trim Tabs fully down and leave them there overnight. If there is a leak one or both will retract on their own.

There is a static O-ring that is compressed between the cylinder body and the upper hinge. Sometimes simply giving the cylinder body a firm clockwise twist will tighten it up enough to stop any leak.

If it continues to leak, and a close inspection does not show any cracks in the upper hinge, the O-rings can be replaced.

We can send you new O-rings and instructions to change them, no charge.

Tom,

Thanks, they do retract and that explains the mystery of my moving tabs :) I always thought they were resetting them :)

Tom,

Follow-up question - I had planned to install the new 0-rings (thanks) and also ordered the Bennett Marine NMEA 2000 Trim Tab Indicator Kit - NMEA1 in the hopes I would have trim tab position data on my helm at the Vessel View 7. By chance I was working another issue on a thread discussing the Vessel View 7 and Kohler generator...it does not seem to work and display any data dispite previously working with the smart craft display.

So before I go to install this kit, can you confirm if anyone has successfully installed the kit with the Mercruiser Vessel View 7 setup?

We cannot confirm that the NMEA1 kit works with Vessel View 7. You would need to contact Mercruiser to see if the system is capable of reading, calibrating and displaying NMEA Trim Tab position. Or see if someone here has had it work for them.

Tom, Roger, I'll reach out to them. V/r Rick
