I have discover that one of the two deck skylights on our 290 Sundancer is loose. Does have anyone have experience with this problem? We discovered after a hard rain that it was leaking (Friday's storm up the east coast). Today, trying to explore the problem and see if I can just remove the caulk - I pushed on the glass from the cabin and the glass was loose. They sit flush on the deck. I had noticed that the caulk was cracked - but surprised that it isn't hard mounted with brackets or screwed.

Is there a marine adhesive that holds these skylights - with a caulk around the seam? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

My 320 has what are probably the same skylights. My caulking is a bit recessed which allows it to collect water. I pulled all of the current caulking/ sealant on one of mine last year; it wasn't loose but it was leaking. That took a while to just clean it out thoroughly. I used 3m4000 and a caulk gun to replace. I actually saw it on a thread somewhere and I recall it said do not remove the skylight. I'll look for the thread. It made it through hurricane Irene last year; so far so good. It was a bit messy but I think it was me rather than the job; I'm sure I'll be doing the other one before too long. Avoiding it for now.

Just reseal them. DO NOT remove glass. Clean all old silicone. Mask around opening. Do a good job masking around fiberglass because you will use black silicone. Fill gap around glass. Try to push it deep so leak wont happen again. Smooth out top, remove masking tape and smooth out again. Not easy to make it looking good unless you have some experience caulking. Make sure you use good quality marine silicone. You can use wide masking tape over gap around glass and trim it with razor knife. Be carefull not to cut fiberglass
