Has anyone been able to fix a leaky faucet like this one on their boat? I've removed the stems and can't find anything wrong. I've even added O-rings to the gaskets to increase the pressure on the valves to help them to stop leaking and the faucet continues to drip after it's shut off. Can it be fixed or will I have to replace it?

Thanks,
Larry

just replace cartridge inside, adding gaskets won't help. worn or cracked plastic piece causing small leak

I found cartridges for my 89 at Ace Hardware!

Couldn't find mine at Ace Hardware, but I did find out that it is a Grohe Classic High Prifile faucet and it uses number 45882 and 45883 cartridges. Had to buy them from an independant plumbing supply house.

How do I determine what make/model my faucet it? Where do the cartidges go?View attachment 21366

Tough to tell. There are so many brands that look so close to one another in style.

As far as the cartridges. On my Grohe in the galley, the cap on top of the rings (see Kay Lee's post above) just screws in to the handle and holds the rings in place. The rings just pull off a shaft. As best I can tell, the cartriges are below the rings. Perhaps yours is the same. The cap should just be hand tightened. At most you should need a couple of rubber jar top grippers to remove it. Mine are standard threads; righty tighty/lefty loosy.

Where did you find the swivel aerator. That's sharp.

Wish I could remember! I bought it last year because the original was clogged with scale and wouldn't come clean even with CLR. The Admiral saw the swivel and wanted it, so that's what we got. It almost certainly came from either Ace, Lowes, or Home Depot.

Update: The Admiral confirmed that it was Lowe's.

Grohe and Shurflo seem to be the most common ones. Grohe can be viewed here: http://www.groheamerica.com/ and Shurflo faucets (now Ambassador Marine) can be viewed here http://ambassadormarine.com/ although their website is still incomplete. Yours may not be either of these brands. Get your cartridge or stem (whichever you have) out and take it to your local plumbing supply house.

Agree wholeheartedly about the plumbing supply house. A big box store is probably not going to have the knowledge about upper/high end faucets.

Hi

I am having the same issue issue leaking faucet. I have what is pictured in Kay Lee thread. Can anyone tell me how to access the valves. I am unable to remove the knobs. Any help is appreciated.
