The marina just called me to tell me that one of my trim tab cylinders s leaking fluid. They noticed it when they pulled the boat out of the water. The boat is a 1995 Sea Ray 240 sundeck, I'm wondering if all of the o-rings the same size or do I have to get any specific model numbers or anything off my tabs to order parts? I'm hoping they are all the same, the boat is in dry rack storage at the marina and I can't get down to it for a little while to check on it.

38P6,

There are two O-rings in each actuator. We use the same O-rings in all our actuators. So all you need to do is send me your name and mailing address in a Private message and we will be delighted to mail you them and instructions how to change them, no charge.

Hey Tabman
Both of my cylinders are wet now that I am sitting in dry storage. Is there a way to tighten them up, or do the o-rings always need changed?

Sometimes water will drip out of the cylinder body for a long while when a boat is dry stored. The cylinder body is open at the bottom and this is normal.

But if this is not the case:

If they are leaking from the top where the cylinder body screws into the upper part that attaches to the transom you can try firmly twisting the cylinder body clockwise to tighten it and compress the O-ring there. If it is leaking where the shaft exits the cylinder body, you will need to replace the piston O-ring.

If tightening them does not work, send me your name and mailing address and we can send you new O-rings and instructions how to change them. no charge.

They are wet at the top of the cylinder, where it threads in to the upper bracket. I will try tightening them to see if they a just are bit loose. If not, I will PM you with my address.

Thanks for your help and the offer for no charge parts - uncommon these days.
