I got on the boat this weekend to an unpleasant surprise. The cabin carpet was soaking wet. I lifted up the trash barrel under the step and found the well filled with water. It leaked over the lip and saturated the carpet. I traced the leak to worn caulking along the bottom of the shower. A steady flow of water would run into the well when I sprayed the caulk just above the shower drain. In all I removed about ten gallons of water with a wetvac.
The carpet is easily replaceable. What I'm worried about is structural damage under the cabin floor. Anyone know if water can easily make its way under the floor? I felt around down there and found foam filler which will probably act as a sponge. I just don't know how far it extends into the cabin. I'm not sure how long the water was sitting in there since I only noticed it after it got high enough to clear the lip. I know it was dry in May. Shower was used maybe four times and cleaned twice.
