I saw the threads on how to install, and you fellas did real nice work. One basic question, though:

do these tv's have to be ruggedized somehow to take the pounding that sometimes occurs on the boat, or will any ole' one that you like do the job?

Any tv will do fine for you. There are no marinized tv's. Just get a sturdy mount for obvious reasons.

I would say there are some better tv choices out there as far as quality and flexibility.

I don't have a big boat like you guys but I would think that the LCD TVs would do better than picture tubes primarily because of their lighter weight. Less inertia and momentum....i.e. the will move like they are part of the boat. I would thin if securely mounted the LCD would do fine. Think about the banging a laptop gets.

ylwjacket,

The TV's will hold up fine as long as they are securely mounted.
Stay away from units that have a DVD player built in however. The built in dvd players will NOT take the pounding that they will receive in a boat. If you are want to have a player on board look at automotive units made by a company like Rosen. We have one of their units and have been very satisfied with it.

Cheers,

Jim

Mike:

I have doc on how to remove the Galley TV.....I wasn't allowed to attach a PPT doc so I'll email it to you.....

dominic -

got it, thanks!

still working that deal. it's on life support, but still breathing.

i'm hoping i don't need to know how to remove the tv's in a 380!

This is way I have have pulled Tube TV's out of the Galleys on several different size S.R.'s. Pull Fridge out and get at the screws that hold the TV from below. The TV is mounted on a board by screws from the bottom. Pull out the screws from underneath and slide out the TV and the board will come with it! Some times you may have to remove the trim "muff" off, just pull on it carefully from underneath as they are held in with "christmas trees" / fasteners.
Hope that helps.

Could someone send me the installation instructions thanks.

I can't post the doc....it's a PDF File and it's 1.5M....If you PM me your email address, I'll send you the file...and anyone else who wants it....unless somehow we can post it here....I got this file sent to me from the Sea Ray factory.....it was specifically for the 380DA, but it is also good for other models....

Dad's Turn...did you get the email...I hope it helps....

hey dominc - looks like i'll need the instructions anyways. the fam's hot for a lcd tv in the salon. with the electronics upgrades being done by the dealer, the salon tv will be my first project.

that, and i want to hook in the new e120 to the salon tv, so i can watch tv on the bridge, and see nav data in the salon.

gotta have something to do i guess.
